Credo E-Bone Designer Peter Simon Takes on the Ferrari Enzo

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 04:23 PM PST

Remember the humorously named yet somewhat plausible Credo E-Bone? It was a design study for a hydrogen powered bus from Hungarian artist Peter Simon, and with a name like "E-Bone", who could forget? Well, Simon is back, only this time he's taking on something a little more exotic than public transport: he's envisioning the next generation of...

Oh My.... Washington Auto Show Tries to get back on the Radar with Jersey Shore's Snooki and her Doppelgangers

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 04:06 PM PST

Did you know that there's a motor show currently going on in Washington DC this week? Well, neither did we until we heard about Snooki's special appearance at the show on Monday. We know, we know, shame on us. Nevertheless, there's something fundamentally wrong and to be quite frank, distressing, about a car show that needs the "4'9 tall...

I just had a complete failure and now I hope to be able to determine
what was malfunctioning. The car started fine but then when i tried to
give it throttle it bogged down as if it were losing power and then i
got it to run again (roll started it) for about 1/4 mile with very
light throttle. it was idling no problem.I parked, went into the
grocery store for less than 5 minutes, came back out, car refused to
start. it cranked over strong but i never heard it fire. about three
times i heard a muffled kind of detonation like it was thinking about
starting but it never did. so i'm thinking that the coil might be the
culprit. or the fuel pump died even though it always tested fine.
comments/suggestions? thanks! rw

..Exact same symptoms of my distributor "stalk" failure...

Had to pull and replace the entire thing from inside the engine to the
wires. All done from the outside, but a serious little effort anyhow.

I hope your fix is easier to implement.

FINAL RESOLUTION- after the failure (and an illegal 1/4 mile rope tow
home later) I had a no start to diagnose. I was HOPING that when i
fixed it the hesitation would go away. IT WAS!
The old Sentra is running like a sewing machine again w/ 224k miles on
the clock. The problem- bad ignition coil. So if someone tells you the
ignition coil works or it doesn't that IS usually true, but NOT this
time- that damned coil had been going out for almost a year. I am SO
glad to have it running right again. On to the next issue....

I want to get these repaired b/c I hate not being able to see my
gauges at night- I took the panel out several years ago to replace
bulbs but they were all working and now they are not. I can always rig
them but hopefully someone has some experience they can lend so I can
repair them properly. I checked the dimmer knob associated with the
instrument panel. I also have my parking/tail lights working when the
parking lights are turned on. Thanks to anyone with any pointers!

So elaborate a little when you say you "checked" the dimmer control.

What were your findings ?

How did you "check the dimmer?

Did you jump/bypass the dimmer , if so what were your findings.

The dimmer control has 3 wires coming in .

power

ground

and output to the dash lights

Had go with the 1-over oil drain plug from Advance/AZ/Reilly' or the
like as it was stripping out. I know the routine, but the damage
started before I got to it :-) "I" use a torque wrench :-) Still buy
Honda filters but the only way to get the stock crush washer (dealer)
to fit is to wrench it on in a vice ever so tenderly. So what size am
I looking for...or how to tell on my own? Just curious if anyone has
the specs on the tip of their tongue. Don't waste a lot of time on
this, pls. Also, for those who don't know...basically walk into your
dealer and ask for 'x' number of oil filters and they won't ask the
model/type for anything from '86-2010 (which is almost everything).
AFAIK the only difference is the S2000 filter, IF IF IF I remember
correctly? Anyway, thanks again Beamer, Tigger, Nasty and the
gang! :-)

It's 7/8" overall diameter, with a 9/16" hole in the middle.
The OD's not really important, so an inch OD would do.

You can get nylon and other types of washers at any auto parts store.

I have some sitting right here.

There is just one filter that fits most models (15400-PLM-A02), but
there are a couple of other sizes in use, so they SHOULD ask you what it's
going on.
