RE: [StockSSDragRacing] 1971 AHRA Summer Nats Video

 

Good Grief was an orange similar year Corvette owned/driven by Bob Williams from Cleveland....didn't have PC engines though...was never that fast/competitive...he did run F/G at a points meet or 2, may have gone to INDY one year, mid-70's....
 
BJ just revved it up a bit and dumped the clutch as he drove it out of the chute...it definitely left ALOT harder on a "real" pass...
he had a 2:78 1st gear Ford Toploader in the vette if I remember right...likely why it did a wheelstand with the low rpm, dump the clutch launch seen in the video....Rolf & Kaase made  slick-shift gears (ala Doug Nash) and built/sold quite a few to the local Ford/Muncie 4 speed racers back then...

Boy aint that the truth! Somthing about those little pee shooters Paul built that had their own sound, Don't remember BJ's car leaving that soft though. CB, wasn't there another Vette similar to BJ's (later model) that said "Good Grief" on the side?

that was BJ Thompson from Cleveland catching a bye-run...he just drove it out of the gate...the sound for the motor was right/accurate tho....did you hear that PC engine "tone" Cap !?!?!?!....
 
alotta clutch slipping goin' on, sound effects are worth the price of admission...did you see the move Stiles Duster put on that camaro in 2nd gear...lol...

I agree - it's a good one..  ditto on the white Camaro...  And the 'Vette, of course.  The first car (Anglia) must have had a clutchflite?
