why i tread on thin ice with answers...it ain't like the friggin guys standing next to you bsing in real life... and you can brain-fart for a sentence, slap your head and say jesus...you know i forgot, or something...

magazines and other stuff. I've run into this a lot even talking to owners
and drivers. They've told me "it was at the X nationals" and I go back and
look at original articles and find out they are off by a year or two. That
stuff is easily correctable. The problem is when some of this stuff gets
printed in newer publications. For some reason, some editors just don't
check dates. I wrote an article on Vanke one time about him winning Jr
stock Eliminator at Bristol in 1966 and Super Stock Eliminator at Indy in
1968. When the story was published it came out as winning Jr Stock
Eliminator at the 1968 Nationals. I was hot and it was just BAD editing!!!
Problem is...once it's in a magazine it becomes gospel. Sure glad I have
all my old Hot Rods Car Crafts and SS&DI Mags!! just my thoughts!!
