Otis Dread Powell... used to know him pretty well from going to the IHRA races in the early/mid-70's...I personally asked him one weekend when we were racing in the South...
 
 Bob R., whose Corvette did he drive in Modified back then....cannot remember if it was his or someone elses...He also started running the Hemi cars with Sonny Shipman @ 74-75, from what I recall.
 O.D. was really cool, he used to put up with me every time I saw him...LOL...

see if anybody's pating attention...i mentioned this loooooooong time ago when I 1st came here...what does the OD stand for in OD Powell's name ???...winning member has the option to ban me from posting for a week...I bet Dell remembers....LOL...

The car that Bob Reed built for Ronnie to drive was a clone car. The car that O. D. Powell crashed, to my understanding, is the one that Bucky Hess had with the Flame paint job, and he sold it to Darrell Marvell.  Dell Jones

Somebody correct me here if I am wrong...wasn't the Sox car that Bullet Bob and Ronnie built and campaigned right before Sox passed not an original car?.I thought the car was bought from Tom Parham and was the car that OD Powell crashed at E-Town a few years ago.Maybe I am wrong,but,I thought that was what he told JB and I up at the Carlisle show when they were there that year match racing.........Andy
