I think the way I remember the story of the wreck was, An oil line came loose on Mancini's car while leaving the starting line. Oil got under the tires down track an he lost control. I believe he hurt his arm and I can't remember what other injuries he had. The car that was in the wreck was the second clone Dart that Mancini built. I don't remember this car ever being rebuilt. Bruce Hawk raced the first clone car Mancini built, which is setting in Ohio as a burned heap. Thus the different paint jobs.  Dell

I don't remember. What actually caused the accident and was Ron badly injured? What happened to the wreckage? Was it stripped or rebuilt?

I'm partially to blame because I took the file name of this photo for granted that Tom Kasch had posted. The time I had spoken to Ron and I said 1977, he never corrected me, but I won't comment on Ron's state of mind based off of that convo...

It was a mistake in my notes where I had 1977 written as being Ron's last year until he started racing again (briefly) in the 1990's.

I'm sorry that you take things like this so damn seriously.

Damn it i know what I'm talking about at times, i didn't fall off of the turnip truck yesterday, I feel i forgot more then most on here knows about racing.

Now that i vented, i think it will be a while before i post again. Cause maybe i might get questioned again.
