Let's see, I got out of the Navy in Jan. of 1960 and bought a 57 Chevy 283-270 H.P. car .
Raced it for the 1st time at Pacemakers ,Ohio, then ran Detroit dragway some, as I was playing semi-pro baseball I didn't race that much.
I was working with a guy from my high school that had this FAST 59 Pontiac , we went to the '60 Nationals in Detroit with it.
In late 60 he got caught drag racing on the street and lost his License for 1 yr, so he sold me the car if I'd pick him up & take him to work..... We started hanging around every day. 
One day in June of 1961 we race at Glass City Dragway here in Toledo, I won that day & on the way home. On a street we stop at a light and these 2 girls pulled up along side, the cute blond driving wanted to race  I heald up  the trophy I'd won that day but we took off anyways. At the next stop light I asked where are you going,she said to "Don's drive -in.
I told my friend I want that little blond so you might have to drive this car.
To make a long story short I told her to come out to the drive-in we hung out at & I'd take her for a ride. All the rest of the day I keeped saying she not coming, but my friend said "She will be here'.she came out I asked her to help wax my car next saturday so it would look nice for sundays drag's, she said sure if you take me with you.
So for the next 43 yrs she helped with what ever I had to do.
She still does today.
