CB, quit drooling and bite the bullet and buy some.  I aggravated him enough that he finally dug into his Sportsnatinals pics.  Now I have to buy some to keep him looking.

the was a guy from shelby NC, wayne blanton as i recall...he was a fulton customer, had a '62 chevy convert with a 283 he had a 5 speed in it...that car was @3 tenths faster than other 12-13/lbs/ci formula stock cars at the time...
 
Joe, locally, i think Bill probably was the 1st one I saw around here back then...
 
did you see the new les welch pages he put up ??? THANKS for the link BW !!!...there are 2 pics near the end of the new 1972 NATIONALS pics les put up 12/27....one is the gold G/MP 57 nomad from indiana...and probably pete smith in a WOP SHOP G/MP camaro RS...there are way too many classic welch shots to drool over on his site

CB, the first 5 speed car I remember was a local guy, James Waller, aka "The Pickle Man".  He had a plain jane looking '67 Camaro that ran G/MP and ran quite well.  He did chassis work on the side and did work for Bobby Warren among others.  Another local car that I don't have a picture of.

 i'm trying to remember the first 5 speed car i ever saw...i think it was Gene Fulton @ '73 or '74...pretty sure doug nash was the most common/innovative back then...
 
anyone else recall the 1st 5 speed car they saw???
