In retrospect, I would say it indeed did. JJ had the one DNF and Mark
had two but, all other things being equal, the blown engines were the
killer for Mark. MM finished 141 points back. Homestead could have
been a very different race.
I'm a Jr fan as well and do admit he's got issues that he's had to deal with the past two years , but I believe he'll overcome that.
What issues am I missing. I know he didn't get along with stepmom and
cuzz Eury. Forgive me but has there been anything else?
Haven't missed anything I don't think ! But everything since his dad's death at Daytona up untill now , big things ...small things.
they all add up to what I meant by "issues".

....actually I would like to see him on his own. Owner/driver so-to-speak, If it falls apart....he would have learned a lot!

Not saying being his own crew chief.....Not Blaming Lance.I'm saying starting his own team like Stewart/Hass . He'd have to get a crew & crew chief , But I believe he could pull it off owning and driving his own car . Not saying he'd top the list out of the gate like Tony's done this year. But I don't think he'd bottom out either , and in the process....learn.
Chad is a good crew chief I admit....no denying it. But , it's the combination of them ALL ......... and a certain amount of damn good luck that has made the combo work the way it has.
(damn good luck means the amount of close calls he's missed wrecks by)
Put jimmy in a different car , would he be as sucsessful?? doubtful
Put chad on another team.....would they? doubtful
It's the same as Jeff Gordon with Ray Evernham and the Rainbow warriors ! they were good as well , and see what happened when that team got disected into the wind ! went downhill !
The 48 team will ALL need to be back to contend , start messing with the recipe and the cake isn't going to taste as good if you know what I mean.
Hendricks needs to focus on Jr ! without a doubt the others are going to be ok going into next season. So he need to figure out WHAT he can do to step the 88 team up !
Pit crew?
Mechanics?
Crew Chief?
Or is Jr going to dwindle away and get tossed aside ?
Think of the merchandise aspect of the sport..... One HOT collectable was Dale Earnhardt Jr ! now......eliminate the "want" for his stuff.
Now you have just increased sales of your stuff.

And with DALE Sr. gone and Teresa having torn it all apart by not keeping her money maker (JR)....Rick is now on top.
We'll just have to wait and see if he's going to put the 88 at the top of his "need to fix" list.
I really do hope some major change in preformance is noticable come Daytona !! I want to see Jr win a Championship as well as Mark.
But Mark's first.....Jr has time.
No...I'm not drinking. just a twisted look at things that make a (very) small bit of sense.
