I'm a Jr. fan but I do think he's having some off seasons. I was hoping Mark would finally win a championship but 2nd ain't bad. It just that he's been so close so many times!

In retrospect, I would say it indeed did. JJ had the one DNF and Mark
had two but, all other things being equal, the blown engines were the
killer for Mark. MM finished 141 points back. Homestead could have
been a very different race.

What issues am I missing. I know he didn't get along with stepmom and
cuzz Eury. Forgive me but has there been anything else?

Jr needs a Chad Knaus. He's not capable of being his own crew chief
like JG and MM can do to some extent. It has been driver error, bad
luck, and not all Lance McGrew's fault. Things will get better next
year, but I don't think Jr will win a championship without a Knaus
caliber CC.
