OK.......Let'
Ya wrote.....
I'll be the first penguin in shark infested waters here.
1) Remove the 'top 35' in points, and make everyone qualify on time. No past champs, no 'I'm a chaser' provisionals.
I Agree Totally on this point!
Screw "Owners Points" and Provisionals !
You don't qualify.....
2) Yeah.. start the chasers in back. You can all list this or not if it is your idiom as well.
Nope.......Ya got to go by qualifying! where you qualify is where you start.
3) Open up the plates at Talladega, or if you wanted to put Daytona in
the chase.. put a 1400lb spring on the right front, and let these cars
get back to 200mph. It would force them to lift in the turns, instead of just runnin round there with it flat on the mat, pack racin, putting
flyin Ryan in a good frame of mind so that he will shut up.
Get rid of restrictor plates! Let-em race!
4) Take the strict template measurements, open them up, and amend the
rule to only allow just enough tolerance of mods in order to keep it
safe. My point here is to let these guys do their jobs, and be
innovative.
Ok
5)Call Goodyear up, tell them that if they cannot give us a safe tire to race with, that we will consider them in breach of contract. In other words, let the owners decide for themselves what tire mfgr they want to run, just like they let them do with virtually every other part on the car. I realize that Nascar gives them the chassis and wing/wing mount assemblies, but you get the point. Competition, yeah, it's good for business, which would be real good for that crazy notion of these cars actually racing. Nascar wants to keep that mantra of 'keeping costs down', then by golly, let tire manufacturers compete for business... which brings me to...
Let the manufacturers show up with the best they have on the trucks.
Then what ever the Owner wants to run....run it. just make them all with-in certain specs.......
6) get rid of yellow line rule. quit forcing the drivers to make
decisions that will hurt someone..
I can take it or leave it , it's not high on the list of restructuring.
7) my tracks I would choose, in no particular order are, Talladega ,
Atlanta, Richmond, Bristol, Watkins Glen, Martinsville, Dover,
Darlington, Indy, and finish it up at Daytona. Race all disciplines, if you want to have true parity of skill and luck amongst the chase field.
I'd like to see Indy in the chase ,
But hows about not having a "SET" chase ! I mean..... One year....these tracks are in the chase......next year......different ones!!! Mix it up every year . Of course you will know a year in advance where the chace races will be held , so tickets and schedules can be made.
But then again.....I would also like to see them re-open "Older tracks" that were taken off the nascar circut because they weren't owned by the "BIG MONOPOLY"!!! Some of us liked those non-superspeedway tracks of yesterday. So hows about resurfacing them and get them back on the schedule! Maybe it's time to just make it "ONE RACE A YEAR" at all tracks. Kentucky's track is good...but was turned down because they "you know who" didn't own it!!!!
8) I would also expand the chase field to 15 cars.. no points. Most wins , wins the cup.. if no one wins, then best average finish.
15 cars........
so the 20th place driver (who's out of it now when chase starts) can still have a few good races and at least get up on stage ! which will keep the chase cup drivers scrambling to keep up there , and those just outside.....
Lastly, I would
allow for practice on Friday and Saturday.
I believe ........ "gotta practice sometime"
Oh so many ways this chase could be better and still keep all the safety structures in place.
Just hafta wait till next year to see how they are going to screw it up some more!
still two races left this year , took my un-lucky rabbits foot and stuffed in my buddy's Jimmy Johnson #48 1/24th car while he wasn't looking.....
Hehehe (terrible ain't I!)
