The flashing light indicates that the security system is armed. When
you unlocked he door with the fob or the key, the system disarmed.

Try locking it with the window open. Then reach in and unlock it from
the inside. The horn will start honking and the lights will flash
when you open the door. It will scare the cr@p outta you.
