RE: [StockSSDragRacing] Official Opinion

 

I equate this less with how they disrespect their sportsmen than how they disrespect the sport itself. They put themselves above the sport.
 
This is more similar to changing the length of the course because the cars are way too powerful for the tracks. Now they're getting too fast for 1000', what's next 1/8 mile? 500 ft? The answer is whatever DSR, JFR and Mr Compton decide is the most lucrative course without any consideration given to history or what's best for the sport. They would all sneer at the very idea.

 What's next, a pro wrestling style 'cage match'. I watched about 5mins of it on TV and that was enough. Pure spectacle, gimmick all the way. Absolutely nothing to do with racing or respecting the integrity of the sport. 
Much like allowing Kurt Busch run at Gainesville without racing his divisionals first. It turns my stomach to think the NHRA most likely had some class racer in the tear down area to see if his head gaskets were too thin but they'll let a NASCAR guy butt his way in line just to grab some headlines. How many people do you think went to Gainesville just to see him race a car that's not even competitive anyway? How many people will flock to see 4-wide when the newness wears off? Hey NHRA did ya see the empty spots in the stands?
