Bob, I completely understand your position on this.I wish there were an easy solution. While I don't contribute pictures to the group (wish I had a fraction of the great photos you have),I have gotten some fantastic pics for scale modeling projects & personal enjoyment.I truly enjoy seeing "the way it was" during (in my opinion) the glory days of Drag Racing-late 50's thru 1971.These pictures are not/nor ever will be shared, printed or posted by me.I have gotten some from you personally (among others here) of my favorite subjects, rare shots of 1/4 Oldsmobiles,Buicks & Gassers. You've asked that they not be posted/shared and your wishes will be respected period. As usual, some individuals lack of ethics, integrity & conscience never ceases to amaze me.I hope it doesn't come to pictures no longer being posted on the group but should that be your decision,I would have to agree, what is yours or someone elses should not be compromised or plagiarized for anothers profit.Should you or any of the other members that post pictures decide to compile a "safe" list,I would very much like to be included.Thank you for the great pictures that have been shared to this point.Sincerely,
William Decker

Thanks Mike. Finally someone understands the situation. Bob R ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Sunday, March 21, 2010 10:42 AM Subject: RE: [StockSSDragRacing] Stealing Pictures
Jack, I think you miss the point. Members here, most notably the two Bob's, lobby people to let them share their stuff online. Then they spend hours re-sizing and cleaning them up before posting them. All they ask is the pictures stay here in the forum and then they find them all over the web and for sale on EBay. I don't blame them for wondering why they bother doing it. All that time and effort for someone they don't even know to see a picture? Thousands of pictures available out there would not have been except for them and now an unknown amount of stuff will not be out there if they give up. But I think you're right to be pessimistic about the people in question ever changing their behavior. MG

Unfortunately it won't make any difference if EVERYBODY stopped posting pictures, there's already plenty of them out there. It's easy enough to hunt around the photo sites, HAMB , etc, etc. and get thousands of photos that can be put on disc and sold on eBay. Anyone who has bought one of the eBay discs can copy it and add another few thousand pictures to whatever they've already got. It's not like someone who is selling one of these discs is getting orders for any particular car like you would do with a legitimate photographer and they're probably not that concerned about new photos coming out to add to their discs. All you have is the hope that there is still some honor and respect left in every single one of the hundreds of members on any of these groups along with the thousands of people that have already found the pictures from some other site. Chasing after the sellers on eBay helps but it's probably like playing "Whack a Mole" for every one you kill off another will pop up. Sorry to be so pessimistic about it but as far as I can see the cat is already out of the bag and it will likely never stop. -Jack ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Saturday, March 20, 2010 11:39 PM Subject: Re: [StockSSDragRacing] Stealing Pictures
I must be getting old Bob. I hit send before writing..... ...LOL. I don't blame you for not posting any more pictures with all the work you go through to get them ready. I will miss them.

It looks as though we have another fox in the hen house. I have sent the email below to the party in question. I do not know if he is a member of this group or if he has someone feeding him the pictures. I am also filing a complaint with Fotki. Some of you may think that I am being an asshole about this subject but I am tired of spending my time begging people for pictures and then scanning, cropping and photo shopping the pictures for some "low life" to steal and use as they see fit. Yes, I grab a lot of pictures off of the web but they are all in private photo albums that are only shared with close friends and are not available for the public to view. If you see this as being hypocritical, then sue me or shoot me. I will no longer be posting pictures on this group until something is done about the thieves. By the way, this is the 2nd offender this week. This 2nd offender is a member of the group and is posting pictures taken from the group on another forum. Thank you for your time, Bob Rice
"Just curious, did Tom McCrea, Tom Kasch, Bill Holmes, Bill Floyd, Bill Truby, George Cureton, Reed Koeppe, Garley Daniels, Ed McLawhorn, Les Welch or I give you permission to use our pictures in your "Tri Five 55 56 57 Chevy Gassers" photo album? I will be notifying Fotki of the unauthorized use of the pictures".
