I just read that myself on nascar's website. Message I get from this: Nascar is lowering it's interference between drivers. However, intentional or no, what they are doing is trying to create the rivalries that have been absent in Nascar for a long time. I also saw that quote on Edwards' facebook. It was all about Edwards' code would not allow him to let that go without retaliation. However, once again, I don't think that was payback for what happened there necessarily, in Atlanta, I think it's more a payback for how hard Kes races him, and I also personally believe that Carl, like Kyle, and even Kes, are going to be allowed the latitude 'create the atmosphere' of rivalry and controversy. It keeps everyone talking, and it definitely boosts ratings. That's why the "gloves have come off" sort of thing there Lorax. They have to get the interest back into the sport.
Now, let us sit back, and see how things shake out in the next few races. The other 'hard chargers' have witnessed this as well, and as the saying goes, the dogs are off the leash now. They now know that Nascar isn't going to be 'in the middle' of the argument. This can prove to be great as well as dangerous.
