With all the tie-ups going on between Japanese and mostly European car makers, conventional wisdom had it that Honda would not take part in the nampa with the gaijin. Everybody saw them stay pure and Nipponese. Not so, said Executive Vice President Koichi Kondo yesterday to The Nikkei [sub]. They would very much like a [...]

That vice president has a pretty naff memory then. My father had a Triumph
Acclaim which was almost identical to the Honda concerto and even had a
Honda engine. That was in the early 80's when Honda spent a lot of time in
bed with the old British Leyland group. It very nearly became a full
blown merger but fell to pices at the last knockings.

1988 CRX DX. Stock. Ok otherwise except that exhaust smells rich
pretty regularly. Just did TP sensor. No MIL. Will check for LED
blink codes tomorrow(today) SITUATION: cold engine. 60 degrees
outside. Start up and then warm up for 10 mins and then accidentally
stall 'cause I'm on a hill and had the E-brake engaged too many clicks
for take-off to prevent rolling in the lake 8^) Tried to restart
and...nothing. Not even a sputter/stumble/failed attempt. Turns over
like a champ. Walked away for NO MORE than 5-10 mins and tried
again. Perfect, started right up. Thoughts? I had noticed this off
and on from time to time over the years, but about now I'm in the mode
of "gettin' the BS fixed!" Thoughts? And Thank You in advance, as
always. Kevin.

Dying after being warmed up then failing to re-start for several
minutes point to a bad ignition coil (located at the distributor.
Consider replacing the igniter at the same time. Use OEM only. OEM
here pays for itself.

This should help, too: http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq.html#startrun

When you crank and the engine refuses to fire, does the tach needle jiggle
even the tiniest amount, or is it dead-still? Watch for that next time.

Very helpful, thanks a lot. I can do this myself in the parking lot.

I'm not disputing what you say or what you've read. All I'm saying is
that it's not the dealer's place to refuse, unless the situation very
clearly contravenes one or more of American Honda's explicit criteria.
And even then, the car's owner has the option of calling American Honda
to question the dealer's decision.

Then it would appear that the explosive tensioners are considered part
of the seat belt assembly.

Furthermore, it is impossible to determine if the tensioners are
functional/operable unless they are actually deployed (and thus
destroyed), so techs have to go by the SRS code to determine
operability. It's sort of like the old joke about the <insert favored
racial slur here> who tested all his matches by striking them to make
sure they'd work when actually needed.

When it comes to the Lifetime Limited Seat Belt Warranty, it IS
black-and-white. American Honda makes it VERY clear to its dealers
what's warrantable and what is not.

Your car's Warranty Manuals (in the same envelope as the Owner's Manual)
should give you those very same particulars.
