[StockSSDragRacing] Re: HELP !!!! Ford or Merc ???

 

All 4 Mercs in '56 (Medalist, Custom, Monterey and Montclair) rode on a 119" wheelbase vs. 115.5" for the 55-56 Ford. The exception to this was the stationwagon at 118" which I believe shared the body with the Ford. The tail lights on the car being discussed are Merc station  wagon only which are a direct bolt on a Ford as  they used the same quarters. The trim is also 56 Ford so I'm sticking with Ford with Merc lights as this was a common customizing trick in the 60's....  

 

** The French? built Monarch Lucerne & Meteor Rideau did appear to use 55 Ford bodies but not Ford trim...

1956 Mercury I forget the model name but it is a Merc same body as the 55 fairlane.
