As with the 2012 M6 Coupe, BMW is slowly stripping away the disguise from the rag-top model which will feature the same M Division-tuned drivetrain found in the latest M5 sports sedan. Read more »

| Siemoneit Racing’s VW Golf R Black Pearl with up to 530HP Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:56 PM PDT  While VW's 270-horsepower Golf R hatchback is hardly underpowered, the engineers over at the German tuning firm Siemoneit Racing felt like it could use some extra ponies. Siemoneit Racing calls its tuned VW Golf R the 'Black Pearl'for obvious reasons- and it offers customers a choice of two performance packages. The first boosts the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine's output from 270HP and 320Nm to 355-horses and 485Nm (3577 lb-ft) through thanks to the updated ECU software, custom exhaust and a new air intake system. | Top Gear: McLaren MP4-12C Records Second Fastest Power Lap Time, Trumps Ferrari 458 [with Video] Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:16 PM PDT  We have already seen Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell and Jason Plato pit the new McLaren MP4-12C against the Ferrari 458. Now, it's time for BBC's Top Gear TV hosts and in particular, Jeremy Clarkson and the Stig to get behind the wheel of McLaren's finest and try it on the show's test track. At Top Gear's famous power lap, the MP4 12C recorded an amazing time of just 1:16.2 minutes, which puts it in second place right behind the insane Ariel Atom V8 (1:15.1) and in front of some of the world's fastest supercars such as the Bugatti Veyron S (1:16.8"), the Gumpert Apollo (1:17.1") and most importantly, Ferrari's rivaling 458 Italia (1:19.1"). | Kelleners Sport Tunes the BMW 1-Series M Coupe to 410HP Posted: 11 Jul 2011 02:03 PM PDT  German aftermarket firm Kelleners Sport is one of the first official tuners to get its hands on the new BMW 1-Series M Coupe and offer a complete conversion. Named KS1-S, the modified 1 M Coupe's turbocharged straight-six now delivers 410-horses, or a good 20% more than the standard car, and just 10HP short of the E92 M3, while torque is increased from 450 to 550 Nm or 405.7 lb-ft. The Stuttgart firm's new luxury SUV enters the 2012 model year in the U.S. with a choice of two models. | It’s a Man’s World: 7 in 10 UK Women Prefer to Leave Car Servicing to Men Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:19 PM PDT  Despite all the talk about equality of the two sexes, there are still some things that even women prefer to be done by men like having their cars serviced – at least in the UK. And we 're not talking about getting their hands dirty but actually taking their car to the service station. According to new research from car servicing network, Bosch Car Service, which surveyed 1,022 UK adults (18+) representative of the UK adult population, just three out of every ten women take their cars for servicing on their own, in comparison to seven out of ten men. | Audi wants to Build a New Factory in the USA Posted: 11 Jul 2011 11:31 AM PDT  Audi has decided to build a new car assembly plant in North America and is seriously considering adding an engine and transmission plant, probably at a later date. However, the German company has not yet come up with a final plan, as Audi's CEO, Rupert Stadler, pointed out to Automotive News: "It is totally clear that we need new production capacity in the US. | CNN Says Toyota Prius Plug-in will Top Chevy Volt, 12 Months before the Former Goes On Sale Posted: 11 Jul 2011 10:28 AM PDT  If you are a GM diehard or a Chevy Volt fanboy, I suggest you cover your ears and start humming loudly to yourselves. CNN Money recently featured an article from Fortune magazine's Motorworld declaring the upcoming Toyota Prius Plug-in hybrid a better buy and a better car than Chevy's range-extended electric vehicle. Shock, gasp, horror, blasphemy etc. To quote Motorworld senior editor Alex Taylor III: "[The Prius Plug-in is] more efficient and less expensive than the Volt, and Toyota actually stands the possibility of making a profit on it -- something General Motors concedes it can't do with the Volt." | Video: F1 Racing Cars Launching at Goodwood Festival Posted: 11 Jul 2011 09:45 AM PDT  OK, so a highly-tuned Toyota Celica with the innards of a Corolla WRC (and then some) may have posted the fastest time at the Goodwood hill climb. And yes, it beat a handful of Formula 1 cars to achieve this win. But we're pretty sure that the sounds and sights of an array of F1 cars ranging from a 1939 Mercedes-Benz W165 to 2010 editions of Ferrari, Lotus and Red Bull, will make the back of your hair stand up. | Nissan Releases Full Pricing of 2012 Versa, Starts from a Low, Low $10,990 Posted: 11 Jul 2011 09:17 AM PDT  According to Nissan, the second generation of its Versa sedan features "the lowest MSRP in America" at $10,990 (not including a destination fee), with the sub note that the company's aforementioned assessment is based on "MY12 competitors at time of print". Some of you will say, we already knew that, and you're right. But what we did learn today is the pricing of the entire Versa range that includes three more models aside from the cut price, entry-level S trim. Read more »

| VW Releases Fresh Batch of Photos of New 2012 Beetle Posted: 11 Jul 2011 07:16 AM PDT  Not that the 2012 Beetle needs it, but Volkswagen wants to keep its newcomer in the headlines until it launches into the market this fall starting with the U.S. in September, followed by Germany in October, the rest of Europe in November, the UK in January 2012, Asia in February 2012 and finally South America by the beginning of 2013. | 2011 British GP: Red Bull’s Reign Disrupted Posted: 11 Jul 2011 05:53 AM PDT  None of the usual suspects – aka the drivers of Red Bull or McLaren- occupied the top spot on the podium of the British Grand Prix that took place on Sunday at Silverstone. Instead, the winner was Fernando Alonso, who managed his first win of the season, and 27th overall in his career, making the best both of Ferrari's obvious progress and the catastrophic pit stop of early leader Sebastian Vettel.
