My neighbors girlfriend has this 97 pathfinder which has had 2 batteries
fail in 3 months. Last evening my neighbor heard a noise under the hood
after turning the engine off. We traced thenoise to a metal box mounted on
the firewall which had steel lines running to it which I believe are fuel
lines. This device has an electrical connector.
The noise sounded like a motor whirring but I think it was probably fuel.
We found the fuel relay but saw no release tab for the relay. we
disconnected the battery until later today.
Does the fuel relay just pull out or how do you release it?

Run the engine until it's hot/pressurised and check everything closely,
or get it checked with the system pressurised.
A coolant leak could be anywhere, and you're best to try to find where
before randomly replacing parts.
I had a problem similar to what you're describing recently, and it
turned out to be a tiny pinhole in a hose between the water pump and
inlet manifold that probably got pinched when I was doing some other
work on the car. It didn't weep at all when cold, but a constant small
squirt when the engine was hot.

A couple of weeks back, Dale Wickell, our Guide to Trucks, sent me off on a most fascinating assignment -- test-drive Nissan's new NV commercial van. I have some experience with Nissan commercial vehicles, having taken a road trip through Mexico in a Nissan Urvan. I remember at first being surprised at how stripped down the Urvan was, but by the end of my trip, after two weeks and 2,000 kilometers, I had gained a deep respect for the Urvan's simplicity and ruggedness. Clearly, Nissan had done mo...
