| From China for China: BMW Teams up with Brilliance to Create 5-Series Plug-in Hybrid Sedan Posted: 06 Apr 2011 06:04 PM PDT  BMW has teamed up with joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. to develop a new plug-in hybrid model based on the long wheelbase version of the local market 5 Series Sedan, which is available exclusively in China. | Auto Art: 1938 Hispano-Suiza H-6C Xenia by Dubonnet Posted: 06 Apr 2011 05:21 PM PDT  If you're familiar with classic cars, you'll know that the interwar models of Spanish firm Hispano-Suiza are among the most coveted and collectable of them all. These weren't just cars: these were automotive works of art. The Hispano-Suiza H-6C of 1932 was a fairly ordinary looking two-seat convertible, but in the hands of race car driver and ex-WWI fighter pilot Andre Dubonnet, it became something all the more special.

| Mercedes Brings Sexy to the Compact Segment with New Concept A-Class, will be Revealed in Shanghai Posted: 06 Apr 2011 04:31 PM PDT  Mercedes-Benz plans to show up at this month's Shanghai Auto Show with a brand new concept for a spectacular looking A-Class model. While the Concept A-Class is just what its name says it is – a prototype study - it's also a very good indication of where the company plans to take its BMW 1-Series and Audi A3 rival with the presentation of the next generation model that is scheduled to go on sale in 2012.
Aside from the new nose with a prominent Mercedes grille, the three-door Concept A-Class also features concave surfaces with sweeping lines throughout the body. Read more »

| Ferrari 458 Black Carbon Edition by Anderson Germany Goes to the Dark Side Posted: 06 Apr 2011 03:24 PM PDT  Challenging the notion that a true Ferrari has to be red, Anderson Germany has whipped up a murdered out 458 Italia with both styling and mechanical upgrades. Starting with the visible modifications, Anderson Germany's Ferrari 458 is finished in a black color and features a carbon fiber package that includes a pair of vents on the front hood, spoiler lips, rear diffuser and exterior mirrors. The German tuner also tinted the Italian supercar's windows, headlamps and taillights. Read more »

| Motoring Icons: A Tribute to BMW’s 1500 / 1800 / 2000 Series Posted: 06 Apr 2011 02:42 PM PDT  In 1961 at the 40th Annual Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany, Bavarian automaker BMW lifted the wraps off of two very special prototypes: the first of its 1500 "Neue Klasse" mid-sizers. For years, Beamer had been working on a new model to slot between its entry-level one and two cylinder cars and its more expensive, luxury-geared six and eight cylinder ones
The design of the saloon was reminiscent of Italian cars, which shouldn't come as a surprise given that, when developing the design of the 1500, BMW's chief stylist Wilhelm Hofmeister had sought the advice of Giovanni Michelotti, who had already collaborated on the 700. Read more »

| VIDEO: How Not to Ride a Motorcycle on the Highway... Posted: 06 Apr 2011 01:46 PM PDT  We have all seen our fair share of crazy bikers, but we're pretty sure none of you have happened to come across something like this before. Well, maybe with the exception of our readers from Morocco, where the following footage is said to have come from. The man in the video thinks it's okay to ride his bike sitting horizontally on the saddle while doing 140 km/h (87 mph) on the highway. Judging by the sound of the engine, it seems that the only way to reach such speed on that particular bike was to make it as aerodynamic as possible. Hence the streamlined riding position... | Jaguar Confirms Development of New Entry-Level Sedan and All-Wheel Drive XJ Posted: 06 Apr 2011 12:03 PM PDT  Jaguar has admitted that it is currently working on a new sedan that will be the entry-level model of the range. Smaller than the XF, the new model is expected to have a starting price of around £28,000 (€31,850/$45,685). According to Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, the sub-£30,000 premium car market is four times larger than that of sedans priced above £30,000 (€34,120), so developing a cheaper, smaller Jaguar makes a solid business case. | Mercedes-Benz Issues Recall on Select 2011MY E-Class Sedans and Estates Posted: 06 Apr 2011 11:41 AM PDT  Daimler AG is conducting a voluntary recall campaign on certain 2011MY Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans (chassis code W212) and Estates (chassis code S212) to inspect, and if necessary, replace a potentially defective auto part. | Infiniti G37 Coupe S gets into Rally Guise for the Needs of the Spanish Rally Championship Posted: 06 Apr 2011 10:24 AM PDT  To answer your first question, no, Infiniti is not going to compete in a European rally. What the company is doing is to supply a G37 Coupe S as a safety car for the Rallies Championship of Spain. The so-called 'Infiniti Work Car Zero' began its duties in the Rally of Villajoyosa on April 1. It is based on the G37 Coupe with power coming from an all-aluminum 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 320HP and 360 Nm (265.5 lb-ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm, and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission.
Sparco supplied the racing seats and seatbelts, the fire extinguishing system and equipment for the drivers. Finally, the car rides on high performance Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires. Read more »

| Hyundai’s Futuristic Viral Ad Campaign for the New Accent [with Video] Posted: 06 Apr 2011 08:54 AM PDT  In a very interesting melding of the virtual and real world, Hyundai has crafted a new viral ad to showcase its 2012 Accent sub-compact and highlight the brand's new slogan "New Thinking. New Possibilities.". What makes this futuristic video intriguing is that the viral includes an actual 2012 Hyundai Accent suspended on a wall with a driver walking down the side to get into the car. | New European Market Ford Focus ECOnetic Expected to Return 3.5 lt/100 km or 67.2MPG Posted: 06 Apr 2011 08:19 AM PDT  A new variant of the latest Focus with the ECOnetic moniker and a segment leading fuel efficiency will soon be added to Ford's European lineup. According to the company, the diesel-powered Focus ECONetic is expected to use less than 3.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (equal to 80 mpg UK or 67.2 mpg US) and return ultra-low CO2 emissions of less than 95g/km when final certification is completed later this year. Now it's time for the Japanese company to give us our first glimpse of the all-new 2012 Impreza, which will receive its world premiere in both 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback version at the 2011 New York International Auto Show (April 22- May 1).
