Re: [NASCAR-Group] Nascar with a chaser

I like Jimmie Johnson as a person and he has talent, but I swear if he wins another championship I'll boycott (not that'll last long lol) Them winning really sucks out loud.

Glad you appear to be back (even if just slightly) to feel like your old self.  Lets all be jealous of Mike's Mom.  She is in Jesus's arms as we speak.  In my image of heaven she is on the best high this world can't even imagine.

Now that every thing has come to pass, I am so ready to write and be

with the group again.

The Chase

Wow. It behooves me to see that Jimmy Johnson is poised to make

Nascar history with what appears at this point, an imminent 4th

championship in a row. Knauss is worth his weight in gold with HMS, not

to take anything away from Jimmie's obvious talent to race a car.

However, I am led to one conclusion.. ... THIS REALLY SUCKS!

Once again, in another chase race, a chase contender has won. The stench

of Nascar's sweaty, grubby paw print is really stinking this up for me.

Sponsors are exiting the once mighty National Association of Stock Car

Automobile Racing, and the vision that was Big Bill France's, (who

somehow, with his son, managed to be voted in to the Nascar Hall of Fame

over Bobby Allison and the like) has more than become diluted with the

poisons of unchecked, unabated, runaway megalamania. Prince Prospero

from Edgar Allan Poe's "Masque of Red Death" couldn't have been more

obvious than the powers that be at the helm of Nascar. Subserviant to

it's own desire and greed, I am more and more getting the feeling that

those that run the show could actually care less about what the fans

want to see, and more about 'huh, welp, if it ended tomorrow, we'd still

be wealthy, so screw it'.

The bright spots for me are these:

1) Juan Pablo Montoya. Let's face it, he's gotten a grip on this thing.

He hasn't let me down anytime this season I have picked him in my

fantasy league, and after being robbed at Indianapolis, he is making a

statement to the world of Nascar. And I have come to love the old school

mentality of his, and it is very Earhardt/Stewartesq ue. He gives what he

gets, and he doesn't care who it pisses off. He's gotten away with a

couple of dirty moves, yeah, but name a driver that hasn't.

2) Mark Martin. For someone that is more and more looking like an old

lesbian woman, this dude is killing it right now. He is beyond having a

renaisance, and is having more fun now, than he ever did at Roush. He

smiles, he RACES, he's found his groove. I would LOVE to see this man

get the cup he so richly deserves, and I do love more than anything,

watching him school these guys week in and week out by doing what he's

always done better than most drivers in Nascar. He'll let ya pass, and

then follow you for a bit, and then pass you back, and steal your

groove. He can read not only his own race car, but can also get a feel

of YOUR car as well, find out where you're weakest, and like a master

chess player, cause you to make the move that gives him the advantage.

3) Tony Stewart. Conversely, this man is without a doubt this

generations "Intimidator" . If you notice, he and Montoya give each other

a wide berth, and have TREMENDOUS respect for each other, and it is

because they are the same animal. Tony, however, can take a 15th place

car to victory lane. He man handles it, and is a demanding driver, and

just like Mark, will make you make that first false move, except, his is

out of intimidation. Sticking that car in the impossible realm of three

and four wide at places where two wide already has other drivers asses

eating the seat cover, Smoke makes it appear not only appear possible,

but has rarely been bitten by that 'mistake' bug.

My fear now is this: how much longer before Nascar relegates what tiny

shred is left of what Big Bill put together, to even eliminating the

abilities of these drivers, and ones like them? Look at Brad Keslowski

right now.. Dale Jr found him, brought him through, and I can guarantee

you that Penske doesn't have as strong a hold on this young man as he

likes to think. However, what will be left for him, and his generation?

Take the plates back out, secure the fences better, and let them race

this weekend..

a dream at best..

Moi.
