Carscoop's A-to-Z Guide to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show Debuts

Frankfurt will play host to the world's largest and most important motor show of the year and this here is our preliminary list of the production models and conceptual studies that have either been confirmed or are rumored to debut in Germany.

The 64th IAA International Auto Show, more commonly referred to as the Frankfurt Motor Show, runs for the media from September 13 to 14, and for the public, from September 15 to 25.

New Jaguar C-X16 Concepts Hints at a Porsche Cayman and 911 Rival [50 Photos + Video]

Jaguar is bringing a new sleek concept car named the C-X16 to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its gates on September 13.

Following the release of a single teaser rendering, the British carmaker unloaded a slew of photos and information on the concept that is believed to lead to a production model sitting under the XK and aiming at the likes of both the Porsche Cayman and 911.

Report: GM May Build a Production Model Inspired by the Ciel

"If you build it, he will come"; now this may be the whisper heard by Kevin Costner in the 1989 movie Field of Dreams, but it also stands true for any product –and especially cars.

No matter what your image or marketing strategy, in the long term the product itself makes or breaks a carmaker. Recent "rags to riches" stories include Hyundai, Kia and Skoda, all of which a little over a decade ago were offering below par, or at best acceptable, models but are now posting record sales year after year thanks to their new, much improved range.

Cadillac, once the default choice in the luxury car segment in North America, witnessed a streak of uncompetitive products ruin its image and sales before GM buckled up and began reshaping the brand starting with the CTS.

Audi Drops First Photos of A2 Concept

Less than a week after publishing the preview renderings of its Frankfurt Motor Show-bound A2 Concept, Audi today issued the first (computer-enhanced) photos of its pure-electric hatchback that will inspire a production version scheduled to go on sale within the next two years.

The new study comes six years after Audi terminated the original A2, which was the first high-volume production, aluminum-bodied car. It's conceptual successor does away with the costly aluminum build but adds an electric powertrain to the mix.

Project Kahn Recreates Land Rover's Frankfurt-Bound Defender DC100 Concept

While Land Rover will be testing the design waters for the next generation of the iconic Defender with its DC100 Concept in Frankfurt, British tuning firm Project Kahn is already imagining ways of enhancing and personalizing the potential replacement for the automaker's most famous model through some photoshop wizardry.

Project Kahn dreamed up four different variants of the DC100, the first of which simply features a white paint job along with the tuning firm's trademark multispoke alloy wheels finished in black.

Video: Policeman Attempts to Hit Moving Motorcyclists with Baton

We know for a fact that motorcyclists face many dangers on the road and are far more exposed to risks than people driving cars and trucks. Nevertheless, we didn't think that a police officer could pose a threat to the well-being of a biker…

If you watch the following video carefully, you'll see a NYPD Chevrolet Impala squad car pulling up in the middle of the road in an attempt to stop the oncoming motorcyclists, with the officer then jumping out and trying to hit the bikers with what looks like a police baton.

Infiniti Pits Vettel in M35h Hybrid Against Webber in M37 at the 'Ring

Infiniti is stepping up the ante in its collaboration with the Red Bull Racing team by pitting the reigning Formula One World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, against his team-mate, Mark Webber, in a race with the firm's M37 and M35h saloons at the Nürburgring Nordschleife to mark the start of European sales of the hybrid model. New Fisker Surf Concept Outlined Ahead of the Frankfurt Show

The teaser sketch you are looking at previews the new Fisker Surf concept that's scheduled to make its first public appearance at next week's 64th IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

The company of former BMW designer Henrik Fisker reveals very little about the Surf study expect that it is an electric vehicle with extended range (EVer) capability, much like it's stable mate the four-door Karma sports saloon.

Toyota Introduces Yet Another Variant of the 2012 Camry, this Time in Japan

Toyota continues the roll out of country-specific versions of its new generation Camry with the launch of the Japanese domestic market (JDM) derivative of the mid-size sedan, which follows the recent introductions of the North American and Ukrainian models.

In Japan, the 2012 Camry is offered at launch exclusively as a hybrid model with power coming from a newly developed 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle, four-cylinder engine delivering 160HP and an electric motor with 143HP, for a combined maximum output of 205 horsepower.

Hyundai Lifts the Covers Off its Focus-Rivaling i30 Hatch

The upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show will host the world premiere of Hyundai's new generation i30 C-segment hatchback that will go against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf and Renault Megane in Europe.

The compact-sized i30 brings a fresh design with a more unique feel than the outgoing model of the same name, which in the States, is offered only in station wagon form as the Elantra Touring.

The exterior styling follows the Fluidic Sculpture design language of the recently launched i40 series (available in both sedan and station wagon formats) with a large hexagonal front grille, wraparound headlamps, a bulging belt line and pronounced front wheel arches.

In a harum-scarum moment that was caught on tape through the dashboard-mounted camera of a following vehicle, a thoughtless driver in a silver-colored sedan passes through two pedestrians that were crossing the road without even trying to stop (that is, if he was actually paying any attention to the road). CLP Automotive Builds a BMW M3 GT Replica with 600HP for the Road

German tuners have no problem taking their projects to the extreme. One such example is CLP Automotive's tuning proposal for the latest BMW M3 Coupe called the Interceptor that attempts to replicate the look and feel of the M3 GT racecar that recently participated in the 24 hours of Nürburgring where it finished in second place.

CLP Automotive begins with a wide body kit that adds blistered front and rear wheel arches together with matching rocker panels and bumpers, a new hood with additional vents and a central dome, plus a large fixed rear wing.

Honda Recalls Over 1 Million Jazz/Fit, CR-Z and CR-V Models Worldwide over Separate Issues

It's recall time for Honda that said on Monday it is calling in three of its models globally in order to repair three unrelated problems. The bulk of the recall campaign concerns the Fit/Jazz subcompact: 960,000 cars built between October 2005 and October 2009 and sold mainly in China and other Asian countries are recalled to fix malfunctioning power window switches. Toyota Officially Previews 2012 Avensis Facelift Prior to the Frankfurt Show

In early August, a reader of Dutch car magazine Autoweek snagged some revealing photos of the facelifted 2012 Avensis sedan and its estate sibling parked at an undisclosed location with no camouflage whatsoever.

Now, only a week before the grand opening of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota has released the first official picture of its updated mid-size model.

Skoda to Unwrap New MissionL Small Sedan Concept at Frankfurt Auto Show

A new concept model that previews an upcoming small sedan will be the star attraction for Skoda at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The MissionL Concept will lead to a production vehicle that will be the sixth model in the Czech automaker's range after the Fabia, Octavia Classic, Octavia, Yeti and Superb

The new car is a C-segment model similar in size to the Focus sedan that bridges the gap that exists between the Fabia and the Octavia. Like the Octavia, it will sport a five-door, liftback body-style.

1,308bhp Monster Truck with Scooter Firing Air Canon to Star at Top Gear Live Event

One of the stars of this year's edition of the Top Gear Live show that takes place at the NEC Birmingham from November 11 to 13, and at the ExCel London from November 24 to 27, will be the Red Dragon monster truck.

Hand-built by former European Monster Truck Champion, Rob Williams, this beast made its stage debut at the Top Gear Live event in South Africa last year.

The Red Dragon is based on the Ford F-350 Super Duty but power come courtesy of a bespoke 9.5-liter supercharged V8 engine from Chevrolet that delivers 1,308bhp and 1,040 lb-ft while burning through a gallon of methanol fuel every 50-60 yards (!).

Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition Posts a 7:14" Lap Time Around the 'Ring

It takes a lot of confidence to name a special edition of your car after the most demanding and famous circuit in the world. Even if said car is not some run-of-mill model, but a limited edition supercar. Enter the world of the LFA Nürburgring Edition, a track-oriented, hardcore version of the already awesome V10-powered Lexus supercar.

According to Tweets from Lexus Europe, the LFA lapped the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 14 seconds making it the fourth fastest production car on the 'Ring (according to Wikipedia's record book).

Ford Plans to double its Chinese Market Presence in all Segments

Since November 2009, China is the world's top car market, surpassing the US. So it's only natural for automakers to pay their utmost attention. Among others, BMW previewed the new M5, Peugeot the 508, Nissan the new Tiida and Audi the Q3 at the Shangai Motor Show . The most recent example is Ford, which is planning to more than double its model line-up in the Chinese market according to a senior company executive. Read more »
