SCOOP: All-New 2012 Honda CR-V Shows its Face in Europe

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 07:15 PM PDT

Given that, during the unveiling of a pre-production study of the brand-new CR-V this summer, Honda said the production model will go on sale in the United States by the end of 2011; chances are we will see the compact SUV making its world premiere in about two months' time at the L.A. Auto Show in November.

But before that happens, here are some fresh spy pictures of the production CR-V snapped during testing in Europe.

While the engine lineups will differ, we don't expect any noteworthy styling changes between the North American and European market versions of the Japanese company's popular SUV.

Video: Russian Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...in the Car [NSFW]

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 05:44 PM PDT

Though we like to assume that we're fairly open when it comes to music, we must admit that we've never had the chance to look [pun intended] at the lovely voices of the trio of girls that form the Russian pop group Serebar - or if we did, we never knew it was them, in which case, shame on us.

But thanks to an extremely educating video of what not to do while traveling in the car, we were obligated to share this new music clip of Elena Temnikova, Olga Seryabkina and Anastasia Karpova – or at least that's the name of the singers listed on the all-knowing Wikipedia.

Official: Audi Applies Trademarks for New RS5 Cabriolet

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 04:08 PM PDT

While Audi never officially talked about the possibility of presenting a convertible version of its RS5 sports car, the idea has been circulating around the internet ever since the debut of the coupe.

But now we have concrete evidence that Audi will most likely go ahead and very soon introduce an RS5 Cabriolet to its lineup thanks to these official trademark fillings obtained by Carscoop.

The images provide us with a 360-degree view of the roofless RS5 (in facelift form, as you may have noticed) that will feature seating for four and the same electrically operated fabric top as the A5 and S5 convertibles, the refreshed versions of which made their world premiere in Frankfurt last week.

U.S. to Miss Out on Street Legal SLS AMG GT3, Perhaps Even the E-Cell, But will get the Black Series

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 03:33 PM PDT

If the standard SLS AMG with its 6.3-liter engine and 571-horses is not hot enough for you, you'll be happy to learn that Mercedes-Benz has told Motor Trend that the company will launch not one, but two hotter versions of its supercar.

"We absolutely have to do a Black Series SLS AMG", said Tobias Moers who is a member of the board of directors and head of vehicle development at AMG. Although he declined to provide further details, judging from recent Black Series versions such as the C 63 Coupe, we can expect more power and, of course, an impressive aero-kit and race-inspired interior.

Chrysler Touts New 300's 8-Speed Automatic in New Imported from Detroit Commercial

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 02:50 PM PDT

The Chrysler Group continues to roll out new advertisements that communicate the "Imported from Detroit" message, albeit without the success of the original commercial starring Eminem that in our opinion should have been about the new 300 instead of the 200, but that is another tale for another time.

The new 60-second commercial is titled, "If You're Gonna," and it begin to air on national and cable networks last Friday, September 16.

Video: Major, Major Ferrari Blooper Captured on Camera

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 02:25 PM PDT

Truth to be said, there is something about supercar fails that make them, well, more laughable….or scarier if you consider the fact that we're talking about people sitting behind the wheel of very powerful vehicles and who happen to share the road with the rest of us.

The blooper you are about to watch allegedly took place in Belgium when the driver of a Ferrari 360 Modena made a wrong turn on the road. But that's not why we're calling it a mega fail.

As you can see in the clip after the jump, the Ferrari driver had a very hard time finding the reverse gear. After many attempts he finally gave up and pushed the car back onto the right side of the road by hand…

I, Robot: Toyota Retools Old Assembly Machines to Lower 2012 Camry's Manufacturing Costs

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 01:56 PM PDT

Toyota is the company that applied the (since copied by everyone) kaizen philosophy in car manufacturing to improve both on quality and efficiency. Now it has done something different: instead of installing new robots on the new Camry assembly line in Kentucky, it retooled the old units from its former plant in California.

The decision played an important role in Toyota's successful attempt to reduce the new 2012 Camry's price by 2% compared to its predecessor.

A new flagship version of the Audi Q3 series is starting to take shape as the German company has begun testing prototype models of what may end up carrying the 'S', 'RS' or even perhaps a different moniker altogether on the famous Nürburgring racetrack.

We first received concrete proof that Audi is contemplating the development of a high-performance version of its Q3 compact crossover during a press event in Switzerland when the Ingolstadt-based automaker gave journalists the opportunity to drive a test model equipped with the force-fed five-pot found in the TT RS and RS3 models.

Chevrolet Orlando gets in a Harlequin Suit for the Sake of Art

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 10:51 AM PDT

We do not know if Belgian design label Quinze & Milan had the famous Volkswagen Polo Harlequin special in mind when it was reinterpreting Chevrolet's new 7-seater Orlando, but the result sure looks familiar.

However, unlike Volkswagen's special edition supermini, Quinze & Milan's one-off creation is not only characterized by the pallet of colors, but also for the fact that the modified parts inside and out are sprayed in the firm's signature foam coating called QM FOAM.

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 10:16 AM PDT

At a first glance, the prototype seen in these fresh spy shots may seem like an XK Convertible, however, a closer look reveals that it's a test mule, meaning engineers are using body parts of an existing model on a different platform.

Video: Watch a Ferrari Enzo Modded Take a Dip into the Atlantic Ocean

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 09:47 AM PDT

Between 2002 and 2004, Ferrari built a limited run of approximately 400 Enzo supercars. Understandably, being such an extremely rare car, when an Enzo bites the dust, or rather in this case, the sea, the news makes headlines.

This particular accident involved a 2003 Ferrari Enzo tuned by Edo Competition that was driven by Calgary car dealer Zahir Rana at the Targa Newfoundland Rally in Canada.

At some point during the race, Rana lost control of the Italian supercar after hitting a hard bump on the gravel sending it straight into the ocean…

U.S. Fiat Dealers Disappointed by New Decision to Delay Alfa Romeo's Return

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 06:49 AM PDT

American fans of the Alfa Romeo brand are not the only ones to be upset by the Fiat-Chrysler alliance's most recent decision to delay the scheduled return of the Italian automaker to the States. So are the company's newly launched Fiat dealerships that were expecting the brand to launch in late 2012.

While Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne never put it in ink, the company had told its 130 Fiat dealers in the USA that they would likely get Alfa Romeo cars as part of their franchise.

The Fiat-Chrysler alliance appointed a total of 130 Fiat dealers across the States, most of which already had a Chrysler store. The company gave dealers the permission to incorporate temporary showrooms in their existing Chrysler facilities, but required them to build separate and permanent stores by the end of 2012.

Rumors: Jaguar-Land Rover to open new Engine Plant in UK

Posted: 19 Sep 2011 05:54 AM PDT

When Tata Motors acquired Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford in 2008, it had to buy powertrains for the models that were already in production by the British group's former owner.

Now, as part for their expansion plan, Tata Motors is considering the opening of a new engine plant, according to British newspaper Sunday Telegraph. If the report is indeed accurate (the company wasn't available for comment) it will be built in Wholverhampton in central England and employ around 2,000 workers.
