Video: Lamborghini Aventador vs Gallardo Spyder vs Ferrari 360 Modena

Posted: 20 Sep 2011 04:48 PM PDT

If it where any other type of cars, we'd probably skip this vide altogether, but it's not every day that you see a spanking new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 getting ready to eat sprint race a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder and Coupe, a Ferrari 360 Modena Spider and the tail of the bunch, a BMW M3 Coupe E46.

Of course there's a matter of who's driving the Italian supercars and what condition they're in, but it looks like the Aventador and the LP 560-4 Spyder pretty much smoked the rest.

Click past the break to watch the short clip for yourself.

Jackasses on Wheels and with Guns Terrorize Middle East Drivers [Video]

Posted: 20 Sep 2011 03:05 PM PDT

There's hooning. And then there's criminal hooning. These particular individuals shown in the video after the break no doubt belong to the second category with their idiotically dangerous antics.

Filmed somewhere in the Middle East (possibly in Saudi Arabia if we are to believe the Youtube commentators), the 10-minute long clip primarily focuses on the "achievements" of the driver and passengers of a silver Honda Accord and to a lesser extent, the crew in a Toyota Camry.

As if waving guns and shooting in the air on a public road isn't dumb enough, the wannabe drifters terrorize all the rest of the drivers throwing the Accord in front of passenger cars, trucks and even near a school bus.

[2003 Honda HSC Concept pictured above]

Last April, we told you about Honda CEO Takanobu Ito's plans for a successor to the much-missed NSX supercar. Ito had then hinted that the "new NSX" would be more environmentally friendly, possibly using a hybrid powertrain like the Japanese firm's new small coupe, the CR-Z.

On the sidelines of this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, Ito-San reaffirmed the company's commitment to build an NSX successor.

"I spent part of my early career at Honda developing the NSX, and specifically the aluminium body," Ito told reporters from UK's Autocar. "I really enjoyed the experience and learned much, so my wish is that Honda engineers have the experience of developing a sportscar like the NSX in the future. Within Honda, our engineers are already looking at developing such a car," he added.

Posted: 20 Sep 2011 09:35 AM PDT

Renault is one of the few remaining mainstream automakers that have yet to adopt the use of vinyl wraps to cover up their prototype models from the prying eyes of spy photographers.

Nevertheless, primitive as cloth/plastic wraps may be, they do get the job done hiding the changes made to their cars like the facelifted Renault Megane hatchback and its station wagon counterpart named the Sports Tourer, that were caught testing in Southern Europe.

The Flying Dutchman: Nissan GT-R Lands into a Water Ditch

Posted: 20 Sep 2011 08:52 AM PDT

There's something about sports cars and…water sports this week. Following the story on the Ferrari Enzo that took a quick dip into the Atlantic Ocean a couple of days ago, we now have a Nissan GT-R that was flogged into a water ditch in Amsterdam, Holland.

According to press reports from The Netherlands, the driver of the Nissan GT-R was returning from a close-by race track event when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, sending it straight into the swamp-like ditch.

A messy situation indeed, but fortunately, nobody was injured. Hop over the break to wash...err..watch the aftermath in the two video clips.

Aston Martin Says it Can't Satisfy Demand for $49K Cygnet

Posted: 20 Sep 2011 08:34 AM PDT

Aston Martin's chairman Ulrich Bez has admitted that sales of the subcompact Cygnet are "not as high as we hoped". He claimed though that the reason is not the lack of customers, but of supply.

"I'm not satisfied with sales of the Cygnet" Bez told British magazine, Autocar. "We can't deliver as many as customers want, as we don't have enough stock. It is the sort of product a customer wants and decides they want on the spot –they don't want to wait for their car to be built, but to drive it away there and then," he added.

Now Healey Sports Cars Switzerland [HSCS], which owns the brand rights to Jensen Motors will re-launch the company with a spanking new car next year.
