Posted: 01 Dec 2011 06:10 PM PST

While in the business of producing and developing cars for Toyota for more than half a century, Kana Auto Works has generally stayed under the radar.

However, at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Japanese company came out of its shell introducing several bespoke models.

Aside from the Toyota Century-based FS Hybrid concept that we showed you earlier today, Kana Auto Works also displayed two prototypes of the newly presented Toyota Aqua hybrid, which will be marketed under the Prius C brand name outside of Japan.

Watch a Ford F-150 Raptor SVT Molest a Toyota Corolla Just for Fun [Video]

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 05:06 PM PST

Ford's F-150 Raptor SVT is one of those trucks that doesn't make much sense but somehow people like it and are willing to buy it despite its lofty $42,000+ price tag (in the States).

Being big, brawny and surprisingly powerful thanks to the ferocious 6.2-liter V8 with 411-ponies that's lurking under the hood, definitely helps.

Now there's a question of what to do once you get yourself in a F-150 Raptor SVT and while we can think of many things, for this particular owner, the answer was to climb over a Toyota (Corolla we believe). Whatever pops your cork...Watch the clip after the jump.

It seems that every recently retired Formula 1 world champion is just itching to get back in a racing seat again. Michael Schumacher's comeback is the most well known example, but Mika Hakkinen also returned to the track, driving a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

Crazy concept cars are something of a staple of the bi-annual Tokyo Motor Show, which takes place this year at the Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward from November 30 to December 11.

New Honda NSX Concept Reportedly Coming to Detroit Show, May get 3.5L V6 Hybrid Powertrain

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 03:27 PM PST

When Honda CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed the NSX replacement, it made sense that the new sports car would be revealed at the Japanese company's home turf. However, Honda displayed the compact EV-STER concept instead, a small RWD roadster that resembles the 1990's Beat.

There's no reason for disappointment though as British publication Autocar is reporting that Honda plans to debut a new concept called 'Super Sports' at the Detroit Motor Show in mid-January.

GM Says Anxious Volt Owners May get Any Loaner they Wish - Even a Corvette!

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 02:26 PM PST

You've got to hand it to General Motors: even though the Chevrolet Volt is currently in the middle of a formal fire investigation by the NHTSA, it looks like it can still generate good publicity out of it.

Cooperating with the safety agency to look into the lithium-ion battery issue was to be expected, but providing free loaners to Volt owners who have "fire anxiety" (even though all incidents involved crashed test cars), isn't something you take for granted.

Toyota Readying Some Mild Model Year Changes for Land Cruiser 100 / V8?

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 01:31 PM PST

The images you see here and which are circulating around the net today, are said to have been sourced from a leaked JDM brochure of the 2012 Toyota Land Cruiser (marketed as the 100 or V8 in certain markets to distinguish it from the smaller Land Cruiser Prado).

While we do, of course, remain somewhat skeptical, they do appear to be genuine. The opening picture shows the Land Cruiser 100 kitted out with original Toyota accessories, but it appears that the headlights and the chrome grille have been tweaked.

At the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show that runs from November 30 through December 11, Mitsubishi unwraped the second generation of its Concept PX-MiEV, which brings the study a little closer to production

Believed to preview the looks and possibly an alternative powertrain option for the next generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Concept PX-MiEV II is a follow up to the PX-MiEV study displayed at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

On the outside, there are some minor styling changes such as the higher roofline, larger mirrors, plus more conventional looking alloy wheels, lights and bumper designs, all of which suggest that the PX-MiEV II is pointing to the styling of the next Outlander.

Saudi Edition: Bentley Continental Flying Spur Grounded in Sand

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 09:50 AM PST

As it turns out, despite their advanced all-wheel drive system, Bentley's luxury limousines and coupes aren't very good when it comes to off-road activities. Who would have known!

We saw it last year when a blissfully unaware owner of a Continental GT Coupe got bogged down in tons of mud in Russia (see the epic video clip here), and we're seeing it now with this Saudi Arabian owner of a Continental Flying Spur sedan who had some troubles conquering the desert sands. Wonder why...

For some amusing footage, follow the break to watch the videos for yourself.

Honda to Take on Fiat 500 with N Concept 4, Production Model Coming in Fall of 2012

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 08:37 AM PST

One of Honda's less publicized world premieres at the 42nd edition of the Tokyo Motor Show could well very turn out to be the most interesting. We're talking about the new N Concept 4 which is a follow up to the EV-N study that was displayed at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

The new N Concept 4 has not only veered closer to production in styling but it will actually go on sale next year. The announcement was made by Sho Minekawa, who is the Managing Officer and CEO for Honda Regional Sales Operations in Japan, during the company's presentation in Tokyo.

"As a part of the N Series, a new model based on N Concept 3 will be introduced to the market in spring 2012, followed by the introduction of another model based on N Concept 4 in fall 2012," said Minekawa. "With that, we will strive to increase our mini-vehicle sales to 280,000 units, which would double the sales of 2011," he added.

The N Concept 4 will be based on the running gear of Honda's new Kei-class N Box tall city car, which also made its world premiere in Tokyo but more on that later.

Live Photos of the New Toyota Aqua or Prius C from the Tokyo Motor Show

Apparently, the Prius nameplate isn't as strong in Toyota's home market of Japan as it is in the rest of the world as what we will come to know as the new Prius C will be marketed locally as the Aqua.

Besides the name, there's nothing else different about the Aqua that made its world premiere this week at the 42nd edition of the bi-annual Tokyo Motor Show in Japan.

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 06:26 AM PST

This has been a rough year for Japanese automakers but if there's one company from the Land of the Rising Sun that's showing a lot of potential, that would be Nissan - be that with its quirky looking Juke crossover, the pure electric Leaf or the tarmac-shredding GT-R sports car.

Perhaps the most important news coming from Nissan at the Tokyo Motor Show is the company's decision to heavily invest in its performance arm NISMO and expand its offerings to include more focused editions of Nissan's mainstream models.
