Posted: 08 Dec 2011 04:42 PM PST

Its shape may look very similar to the previous model, but Porsche's 911 that made its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September is pretty much a brand-new car.

Porsche's motto of "evolution, not revolution" clearly applies primarily to the shape of its iconic sportscar, which has been its mainstay product for more than four decades.

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 04:46 PM PST

If you have ever lived in or at least visited a large city like New York, you'll know that, sometimes, finding a parking space can be than harder than searching for a needle in a haystack.

And the worst thing is when you're driving in circles for hours and finally find a free space only to discover that you can't fit in.

Not surprisingly, some drivers are so desperate that they don't care if they have to bump their way to squeeze in, like this owner of an older generation Toyota Camry that just had to park no matter what. A time-lapse video is waiting for you just after the break.

Walter de' Silva Confirms Audi's BMW X6 Rivaling Q6 Crossover, Says Smaller Q4 May Follow

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 02:52 PM PST

If the saying about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery is true, then the BMW Group should feel extremely flattered by the fact that both Audi and Mercedes-Benz are planning to introduce a direct rival to its X6 SAV (BMW's acronym for Sports Activity Vehicle).

And while we not only knew about Audi's plan to develop a BMW X6 rival, but we also scooped an early test mule model out in the open, the VW Group's head of design came out and officially confirmed the news in a short interview with Autonews Europe on the sidelines of the Bologna Motor Show.

Something to Think About This Christmas: African Boys Make Homemade Toy Car [Video]

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 02:04 PM PST

It's a well-known fact that children of all ages and ethnicities enjoy receiving gifts. Nevertheless, it's not uncommon for certain kids in better-off countries and/or families to be overly spoiled and at the same time ungrateful despite getting whatever their hearts desire …and then some more.

This brings us to this video starring a little boy from Africa and his homemade toy car. Even though it's clear that there are much more important concerns in his and his friends' lives, using whatever materials he could get his hands on, he was able to build this simple yet ingenious in its own way, toy car.

Be sure to check out the video past the jump.

Formula 1: U.S. Austin Race in Texas Makes the Cut, will be Included in 2012 Calendar

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 01:37 PM PST

What Bernie Ecclestone wants, Bernie Ecclestone gets. This dictum has been proved repeatedly in Formula 1 as the British businessperson, despite beings 81 years of age, remains the man who pulls the string in F1.

Ecclestone wanted Formula 1 to return to the United States. His first attempt, a few years back, at the Indianapolis circuit was short-lived. The U.S. is very important to Ecclestone though, so he signed a deal with the Circuits of America for a race to be held in 2012 at a new track in Austin, Texas.

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 01:11 PM PST

While fast cars and beautiful women are a match made in heaven, producer Alexander Sperr and director Daniel Michaelis took a slightly different turn with their latest clip by incorporating the classic sounds from a symphony orchestra into the mix.

The cars featured in the video are a modified Audi S5 and a BMW 3-Series [E92]. While we can't say that we're too enthusiastic about the editing of the video which was allegedly shot at the Stelvio Pass in Italy, the clip is worth a few minutes of your time. You can check it out after the break.

Dealer Celebrates Showroom Opening by Dropping a 1950s Cadillac 60 from a Crane… [Video]

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 11:03 AM PST

There are a lot of different ways to go about generating some buzz for the grand opening of a new car dealership, but hanging a classic 1950s Cadillac 60 sedan from a crane and then releasing it to crash down to the ground is something you don't see happening every day.

This controversial marketing stunt came from the Texas-based, Frank Kent Motor Company, and it took place on November 11 for the opening of its new Cadillac store in Fort Worth.

We can't say for sure what condition the Caddy was in, and even though the move did realize its goal of getting the word around for the new showroom (we're here talking about it, aren't we?), somehow trashing one of your brand's classic models doesn't seem quite right. That or we're being old fashioned about it…

Media Headlines Reduce Demand for Volt, Coolant May be the Cause of Battery Fires

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 10:44 AM PST

Despite handling the Chevrolet Volt fire-risk issue brightly going to great lengths to dispel current owners' fears and satisfy them, media headlines seem to have taken their toll on the extended range EV's sales after all.

According to CNW Marketing president Art Spinella, a new survey conducted by his research company reveals "a decline in the consideration of the GM vehicle".

The study shows that the number of early adopters "Likely" or "Very Likely" to buy a Volt between July and December decreased by 20.5% after the fire reports, a percentage that was double among the general public. Electric vehicle enthusiasts are the only ones not affected by the reports, yet analysts expect the Volt to will miss its 2011 sales target by around 20%.

Chuck Norris Approved: Man Flies Out of Truck Window but Walks to Tell Another Tale

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 09:35 AM PST

Seatbelts are there for a reason and that is to save the lives of passengers and the driver alike. Now, you'd think that in this day and age, anyone without a death wish would use them.

Well, sadly, many people all over the world continue to ride in motor vehicles without strapping on their seatbelts. In this incident, a large lorry violates a red light ramming an oncoming truck at the intersection.

As a result, the driver (or the passenger, we're not sure) who obviously wasn't wearing his seatbelt, was flung out of the windshield. Amazingly, the man got up on his feet and walked away, slightly injured but nevertheless, alive. The crash happens approximately 50 seconds into the video which you can watch after the break.

Toyota Considers Making More Lexus Cars in North America

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 08:08 AM PST

The forces of nature aren't the only ones conspiring against Japanese carmakers, and Toyota in particular, this year. The strong yen, which in the past six months alone has risen by 9% compared to the U.S. dollar, is seriously hurting Toyota's profitability.

Pushing its suppliers hard to minimize their costs, or finding alternative partners, is one of the measures taken by the biggest Japanese carmaker. Moving more of its production out of Japan to more cost-efficient plants in other countries is t.

The weak dollar is making manufacturing in the U.S. increasingly more attractive, allowing for more competitive prices and higher profit margin – to the point that U.S.-made Camrys will be exported to South Korea.

Next Subaru WRX to get a Turbocharged Version of the BRZ's 2.0-Liter Engine with Around 270HP

Posted: 08 Dec 2011 07:48 AM PST

The pundits over at Motor Trend magazine are reporting today that a spokesperson from Subaru of America has confirmed that the next iteration of the WRX will mark a return to a smaller displacement 2.0-liter flat four engine instead of the 2.5-liter motor used on the current model.

The Subaru rep said that new engine would be a turbocharged version of the firm's FA20 unit found under the hood of the newly revealed Subaru BRZ and its Scion FR-S and Toyota 86 siblings, with a targeted output of around 270-horsepower.

The FA20 engine, which in naturally aspirated form produces 200-horses and 205Nm (151 lb-ft) of peak torque, is more compact than the 2.0-liter boxer from the FB family of engines used on the latest Impreza and Forester, while it also benefits from Toyota's "D-4S" direct injection and port injection technology.

Why stop when you have a good thing going? And with some 2.2 million views on Fiat's official Youtube channel alone, we'd say the company's 500 Abarth Seduction clip starring Romanian hottie Catrinel Menghia, has been a very successful communication tool for the Italians.

Now, less than a month after the original digital spot made its internet debut, Fiat has released a so-called "pop-up" version by VH1 that incorporates some fun facts about the clip and the two protagonists that will run through the end of December.
