Tis the Time to Watch Out: Cool Timepieces for the Auto Enthusiast Posted: 24 Dec 2011 05:23 PM PST A red and white McLaren and a bright yellow-helmeted driver behind the wheel storming down the track is one of the images that defined the 1980's-era of Formula 1. The driver was, of course, the late Ayrton Senna. And the watch he wore was always a TAG Heuer, something that made many young fans of the most charismatic driver the world has ever seen yearn for one. The Swiss brand continues its partnership with the Woking-based F1 team, making sure that Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button flash their timepieces at every opportunity. On the other hand, the most famous, if not really the most exclusive or expensive watchmaker in the world, Rolex, has linked its name not only with the late actor, racing driver and Indycar team owner Paul Newman, but also sponsors and big names, many major events after its most coveted model, the Daytona chronograph. Audi: The Low-Down on the R8's Upcoming Facelift and 2014 Replacement Posted: 24 Dec 2011 02:09 PM PST The first true supercar to be created by Audi, the R8, has won universal praise thanks to its handling, quality, every day usability and, in the V10-equipped model, performance numbers. See what happened to this "macho" passenger who got angry at a pedestrian who tried to cross the road while the light was green in the video after the jump. Read more » |
Damaged McLaren MP4-12C Pops up for Sale, would You Buy it? Posted: 24 Dec 2011 09:16 AM PST Ron Dennis' newest creation, the McLaren MP4-12C, only went on sale in Europe this past spring but we're already seeing the first crashed examples showing up on the used car market. This silver colored MP4-12C was registered in Holland on August 2011 and covered only 4,000 kilometers (2,486 miles) before its owner drove it into what may have been a ditch judging by the dirt up front and the damage to the car. Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Vroom! Scuderia Ferrari Sends Christmas Greetings Posted: 24 Dec 2011 07:11 AM PST It's the most wonderful time of the year - a year which certainly does not rank among those that the Scuderia Ferrari and its tifosi will consider worthy of the Prancing Horse's history in Formula 1, having scored only one win and finishing third in the championship. However, the people from Ferrari's racing division seem to have been touched by the Christmas spirit, so they put their disappointment aside and had a little fun at work. Read more » |
