2012 NAIAS: Is this the Audi Q3-Based Vail Concept?

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 07:07 PM PST

In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler told the news outlet about his company's plans to test the waters with a new concept based on the Q3 crossover named "Vail" at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. However, that's about all Stadler was willing to reveal.

It's only a matter of hours before we see the Q3 Vail Concept in person, but we just found a set of sketches purportedly showing the SUV study on the Dutch website Audiblog.

New Cadillac ATS Sedan: The Official Low Down Plus HD Pictures and Videos

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 06:05 PM PST

We've been following the development of Cadillac's all-new premium mid-size sedan for almost a year now but at long last, and after the first photos showed up online earlier today, the Detroit Motor Show-bound 2013 ATS has been officially revealed.

The design is what you'd expect from a 21st-century Cadillac, full of sharp creases and vertically stacked rear lights, with the exception of the headlights that extend back into the front fenders.

The interior offers a few surprises as well, including the instrument panel with a reconfigurable 5.7-inch display, though some of us found the center console and steering wheel bearing a passing resemblance to the Chevrolet Cruze.

Another highlight of the interior is the Cadillac's new CUE technology that pairs entertainment and information data from up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, USBs, SD cards and MP3 players with a vehicle infotainment system that includes an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen.

Lincoln Teases its MKZ Concept Ahead of the Detroit Motor Show

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 04:55 PM PST

Whereas Ford will be revealing the production version of the 2013 Fusion sedan at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday, its premium brand Lincoln will debut a concept of the next generation MKZ sedan.

The current model is heavily based on the soon-to-be replaced Ford Fusion and that won't change with the new MKZ. What Lincolns promises, however, is that its lowest priced sedan will have a more unique design inside and out.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Photos on the Loose

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 06:41 PM PST

There's no end to the automotive leaks today with the latest victim of "someone, somewhere did it, but it wasn't me" being the 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, photos of which "somehow" made it online several hours ahead of its world premiere at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

We were the first to bring you the low down on Hyundai's 16-liter turbocharged gasoline unit in the beginning of 2011, while the South Korean automaker officially revealed details on the engine last October.

Volkswagen's E-Bugster Concept is an All-Electric Beetle Hot Rod

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 04:01 PM PST

At the 2005 North American International Show, Volkswagen introduced the New Beetle Ragster concept. It was a second-generation Beetle convertible with a much lower roofline and its name was conjured by crossing the words "ragtop" and "speedster".

Fast-forward six years, and the "People's Car" company (for that's what Volkswagen literally means in German) is launching a similar concept at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show .

Bentley Continental GT Coupe Falls Prey to Spray-paint Vandal

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 12:23 PM PST

Who knows what kind of animosity the owner of this Continental GT Coupe in Russia had with the vandal who decided to seek some sort of revenge by decorating the Bentley with a bottle of spray-paint, but one thing's for sure: he or she ain't going to be happy upon viewing the British luxury model's new painjob…

The folks over at CarLifeblog tell us that the vandal wrote the words "New Happiness" on the windshield and the hood and "Scumbag" at the rear window of the Bentley. You can find a couple more photos after the break.

2013 Cadillac ATS Sports Sedan Photos Hit the Web

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 12:24 PM PST

The cracks on the wall surrounding the Detroit Auto Show are getting wider as following the premature release of the 2013 Dodge Dart and 2013 Ford Fusion (Mondeo), we now have the first pictures of the 2013 Cadillac ATS.

The ATS sedan is perhaps one of the most important projects in the last decade for Cadillac as it offers the wreath and crest brand its first true rival against the almighty BMW 3-Series as well as the successful Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class models.

On the outside, the ATS looks exactly like what we expected: an offspring of the new XTS and the CTS in a mid-size sedan package. It's also surprisingly close to the rendering sent to Carscoop by one of our readers, Josh Byrnes.

As for the interior, we can't but help note the similarities in the design of the center console and steering wheel with the…Chevrolet Cruze. However, the Cadillac does get its own set of gauges if that's of any consolation.

Michael Stoschek Officially Pronounces the New Stratos Project Dead

Posted: 08 Jan 2012 09:16 AM PST

The automotive history is full of people who tried to make their dreams come true but failed, some due to their limited ability or resources, some because of bad timing and others because the big fish swimming in their pond were, well, too big to handle.

Automotive industry entrepreneur, collector and historic car driver Michael Stoschek has just joined their ranks after attempting to build a 21st century version of one of rallying's iconic cars: the Lancia Stratos.
