So, How Much Does a Nissan 370Z Coupe Cost Where You Live?

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 06:16 PM PST

During a trip abroad or while surfing on the internet, at one point or the other you probably compared prices of goods offered in your own country with those in other regions. And naturally, you may have noticed that prices can vary greatly from one country to the other.

Being that for most of people, a car is the second most expensive purchase you will ever make after you house; it's interesting to see the price differences between various countries around the world.

To make a fair comparison, we had to pick a model that was available in only one engine option globally. For those of you that have been with us for a while, you may remember that we made a price comparison with the Nissan 350Z back in late 2007.

Some four years later, we decided to revisit the subject with the 350Z's successor, the 370Z Coupe, in its base version and not taking into consideration the possible equipment variations in each market. The exchange rates are from January 16.

Spy Shots: BMW Continues Work on the New 3-Series / 4-Series Coupe

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 05:21 PM PST

These new spy photos plopped in our inbox today affording us a fresh look at the next BMW 3-Series Coupe, which may or may not be called the 4-Series. Regardless of the name, one thing's for sure: the two-door model will be based on the sixth generation of the 3-Series sedan.

Leaving aside the first 3-Series, codenamed E21, which was only offered as a two door model anyway, with the exception of the 1980s E30 model, all the rest of the 3-Series Coupes featured significant styling changes over their four-door counterparts.

This tradition will continue with the new F32 model that will share very few, if any, body panels with the four-door sedan. If you look at the pictures that follow, you'll see that the F32 has typical coupe proportions with long front doors and a lower greenhouse that is heavily slanted towards the back.

Here's one incident that could have easily turned the other way resulting in a horrific accident if it weren't for the driver's calm response when a truck decided to turn on a frozen road – possibly in Russia.

However, we reckon that he (or she) might have avoided the whole situation if he/she wasn't going so fast and practiced some defensive driving especially in these conditions.

Hit the break below to see how the incident unfolded.

Despite not taking place in Africa anymore but in South America, the Dakar Rally remains a very tough race. To finish is in itself a unique experience but to win is a truly great achievement.

Imagine now how Stephane Peterhansel must have felt on January 15, after 38 hours, 44 minutes and 56 seconds and 4,000 competitive kilometers from Argentina's Mar del Plata to Peru's capital Lima.

Not only did he win what is probably the most demanding off-road endurance rally in the world but he also did it for a record 10th time, having won six times riding a motorbike and four driving a car.

Modern-Day Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA Imagined by French Designer

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 12:47 PM PST

If the Porsche 911 is the model that even its creators couldn't kill, then Alfa Romeo is surely its brand equivalent in the automotive world. It's not that Fiat's management didn't try (willingly or not), but in a peculiar way, Alfa (unlike Saab, for instance) always made a comeback.

Maybe it's the Italian flair that makes you forget sins of the past or the niggles of its current portfolio (Brera seating position, anyone?), but the Alfisti remain faithful to their beloved brand.

One such Alfa Romeo enthusiasts is independent French designer Vincent Montreuil. He may not be Italian, but then again, no one ever said that Alfas were adored only in their home country.

While the Americans are still waiting for the company to stay true to its promise and eventually return to the U.S., Vincent created some pretty convincing renderings of a 21st century Alfa Romeo coupe.

Woozy Teen Girl Almost Rams Police Car on the Wrong Side of the Highway

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 12:10 PM PST

You would think by now that people get the message that consuming heavy quantities of alcohol and driving are two things that should never go together.

Apparently, the message is still not clear for some drivers like an unnamed 17-year old girl that almost rammed a police cruiser head-on at 70mph (112km/h) on Highway 41 in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.

The drunken teenage girl was driving on the wrong side of the road, but fortunately, she stopped when the police officer made a U-turn on the highway and tailed her before anyone got seriously hurt.

Bentley Eyes Jay-Z, Samuel L. Jackson and Other High-Profile Maybach Customers

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 11:14 AM PST

After Daimler announced that it is killing off its failed Maybach brand to concentrate on the next Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley immediately started eyeing up Maybach's customers such as music singer/producer Jay-Z (who, incidentally, destroyed one in a video), King of Spain Juan Carlos, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and the Sultan of Brunei.

"The withdrawal of Maybach is a business opportunity for us and we're going to use it," Bentley CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer told Reuters during the Detroit Motor Show

Duerheimer added that he would invite current Maybach owners for VIP tours in Bentley's Crewe factory as he wants to create "a specific welcome zone" inside the brand.

No “Porsche for the People” Says Company's Boss - At Least Not Yet

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 08:40 AM PST

Porschephiles have a lot to be happy about; since last autumn, the Stuttgart-based sports car maker has replaced half its range, launching both a brand-new 911 and the third-generation Boxster, while also introducing what it claims to be the sportiest version of the Panamera yet, the GTS.

Those looking for a cheaper way to get their hands on a new Porsche, however, will be disappointed. Porsche CEO Matthias Muller told German news daily Wirtschafts Woche that the company has no plans to introduce a smaller roadster, refuting rumors about a new entry-level model that would slot below the Boxster.

Fiat Rumored to Extend 500 Range With Mini-Rivaling Five-Door “Wagon”

Posted: 17 Jan 2012 07:04 AM PST

On paper, Fiat's return to the North American market after a 30-year absence was well planned. The first product introduced by the Italian maker was the 500 city car, which had already proven to be a hit in Europe, selling 770,000 units since 2007. Things looked promising in the U.S. as well.

While the 500's mission was to rival BMW's Mini, its 2011 sales of 26,000 units were almost half of original forecasts. Delays in the launch and the dealer network certainly played a role while Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne also thinks that the company's strategy was to blame.

"We thought we were going to show up and, just because of the fact people like gelato and pasta, people will buy it", he told reporters last week. "This is nonsense".
