Timbo,
I couldn't have said it better myself.. IF they MUST have this dumbass chase, then yes, start them in back.
Lowe's has walked away from their hometown track, Allstate has walked away from INDIANAPOLIS of all places.. who's next? Let's face it, Nascar has more than painted themselves into a corner that they can't get out of with their current direction. They need to do some major overhauling, and that 'embracing of the old school fan' needs to be the focus. The COT blows, and more than just tires. It is not a race car, it is nothing more than a car that goes fast.. but races? I have seen very little of that at all, not even at Bristol. Dale Earnhardt's death brought people to the doorsteps, and when they witnessed the dog and pony show, that was it..
I used to defend the hell out of Nascar.. but now, I fear Jim Rome is right, it's nothing more than metal coffins going in fast circles..
I haven't watched a live race since Dega.. some weeks, I just go to Nascar.com.. catch up on the highlights and the finishing order.. it has no heart any more.. no pizzaz, no panache. The smoke screen is lifted, and well, we've found that there is a man behind the curtain.
