I read something once that the cuda's wheel wells were stretched forward a few inches. I wish I could remember where I read that. I think it was in MOPAR Action.

The Darts definitely had the rear wheel wells opened up. The SS/A cars have the correct look for that. The glass and window mechanisms were special on those cars too. There's plenty of information on them out there.

thanks for the questions, i THINK i know something about these cars, and if im wrong, hopefully no one will beat me up!!!(lol) they were originally built as 383 dart gts and barracuda formula s cars but shipped to hurst less engine for hemi upgrade. as far as the wheel openings they are definately different on the dart but i believe the barracuda openings were as factory. trim level i think-- was base model... not 100% sure. the seats were cheapo a100 van seats and no rear seat. i built a model of a '68 ss/aa barracuda using the '69 kit, and it turned out ok, but had the '69 grilles... i built mine with full working suspension, 4 link rear, tube k-frame and the ss/aa resin motor that is available, quite a bit of work to make cheesy mpc '69 barracuda kit even look like the right thing. i had about 75-85 hours in the body and chassis alone!!! gave it to a friend of mine who had (at the time) a real ss/aa barracuda, and its still proudly displayed at his house!!thanks again for the questions, i hope i helped at least some!!!dave

First,I would like to thank you for posting all those great pictures and second I would like to ask a question. You seem to be very knowlegable on the Darts. Do you know what they started as? Were they built from base model or so other trim level? I remember reading about the factory or some other ? shop enlarging the rear wheel openings, maybe 2 inches larger than stock. Anyone remember the article or how mch they were opened up ? Also what seats were used? Seems like I saw one with a bench seat, but it may have been a clone,as I remember it being a little rough, and looked unfinished, and may have had some primered areas showing. Any help with these cars is greatly appreciated. I would like to build a model of one, and it seems the resin kit is no longer available, so I will have to modify a plastic model. thanks for all your help! Terry
