HE's not dangerous, he's implying that YOU are.

And if you're using your side-view mirrors as rear-view mirrors, then
you've got them aimed wrongly.

The one I've seen in a Nissan dealership was fenced off with velvet rope so
that it could not be approached or, God forbid, touched by prospective
customers. I'm kinda surprised Nissan didn't market it as an Infiniti in
the US. They, at least, wouldn't be afraid of customers actually touching
the car.

Kind of amusing... About the only use for an interior rear view mirror
is to spot the cop that's chasin' you or the clown about to rear end
you. In either case, there won't be much that you can do about it.

I agree, side view mirrors are far more valuable for pertinent information.

I drive a coupe with rear wiper. It is quite useless.

The velvet rope might have been an image thing, I guess. Makes the car seem
that much more desirable. Forbidden fruit, y'know.

You must not live in an area where the rear window gets dew or rain on it.

When I drive my wife's Tercel (which is a sedan), I really miss the rear
view the Integra's rear wiper gives.

That is a falsehood.

There is nothing incorrect in the way in which I have my side mirrors
aimed. It only takes a bit of movement of my head to view everything
from curb to curb and to the rear in my mirrors. I have been driving
heavy trucks for decades and not one of them had a rear view mirror (or
window), no issues in any regards in those vehicles or smaller vehicles.

In both of those scenarios you mention, the side mirrors will show you
the vehicle approaching yours.

> I agree, side view mirrors are far more valuable for pertinent information.

They (when adjusted properly) give the driver 100% of the view behind
and to both sides of his vehicle.

I've been driving for 35 years, and I'll never say never.

Passenger-car side mirrors are /far/ too small to provide a proper all-over
view. Heavy-truck side-view mirrows are much larger.

For work I frequently travel with sufficient cargo as to be unable to see
out the rear window of my Integra. My right-side mirror is -- trust me on
this -- wholly inadequate for anything close to complete comprehension of
the surrounding traffic.

I find myself changing lanes on the highway a bit the way a transport
driver does: Signal first, then wait a bit so I'm pretty sure everybody
sees it. As the signal flashes, I bob and weave about in my seat, studying
in detail the view out my tiny right-side mirror. Nobody apparently there?
Signal still on, I /slowly/ begin my lane change, waiting for a horn honk.
No horn honk? Then it's probably safe. I continue moving over. I've been
pretty careful over the last 18 years; only one horn-honk.

A bit of background:
I've had problems in the past with the SRS light coming on, but with a code
which doesn't correspond to a particular fault. At first I could reset it
(paperclip method) and it wouldn't come on again for a few weeks/months.
Last year it started coming on more regularly so I fitted a switch to let me
reset it more quickly without fiddling under the dash. Even more recently
the light comes on almost every time I start the car, and won't always reset
on the first attempt - usually it resets by the third attempt but sometimes
it takes more attempts.

Anyway, it's got to the stage where I don't think it's worth trying to
sort - I'm probably going to get a new car next summer anyway. As a result
I want to disable the SRS bulb so I don't have a bright red light glaring at
me the whole time. As I understand it the SRS is disabled when the light is
on, and the system will not fire under these circumstances, so I basically
have a car with no airbag system.

So, how to disable the bulb? Presumably I need to take at least part of the
dash off - does anyone know how tricky that is and how long it will take?
Once I find it, can I just remove the bulb or will I need to short the bulb
connector? Anything else I should think of?

Thanks in advance,
Al

Cover it with a piece of tape?

Good news! Glad to know it went well.

I've had trouble in the past getting the pedal to feel as firm as it should
be without some work knocking bubbles free. Surprised yours didn't present
that issue.

For some odd reason Honda, unlike Toyota, does not use semi-stainless
pistons. Always wondered why.

In any case, rust can be prevented through the judicious use of silicone
grease. I rebuilt my fronts about eight or nine years ago, using silicone
grease. The pistons are squeaky-clean at this moment. The originals rusted
up and seized pretty badly.
