Posted: 10 Aug 2011 07:39 PM PDT

We've seen official teaser shots and unofficial video footage of the next generation of the 2012 Toyota Camry that give us a rough idea of what the North American market version will look like when it arrives in showrooms later this year,

However, the USA and Canada aren't the only markets expecting the new Camry. So is the Asia Pacific region, albeit in a slightly modified form

Now, thanks to a forum member of VW Vortex we have what appears to be scans from an unnamed magazine allegedly featuring brochure shots of the Japanese domestic market [JDM] 2012 Toyota Camry.

SPIED: Ferrari Continues Work on 599's Replacement

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 06:27 PM PDT

After the launch of the 458 Italia and more recently, the four-seater FF, Ferrari is now concentrating on the development of its next supercar, which will replace the 599 GTB Fiorano and is currently known by its F152 codename.

Our spy photographers caught up with a test mule of the F152 wearing a modified body shell of the current 599 GTO over a new chassis that is believed to share many components with the FF.

Ferrari's four-seat supercar will also lend its new 6.3-liter V12 with direct-injection technology to the F152, but further honed to develop around 700 horsepower. However, we won't see the FF's all-wheel drive system as Ferrari will keep the F152 strictly rear-wheel drive.

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 03:43 PM PDT

The European market Ford Transit van isn't exactly the first vehicle that springs to mind when it comes to drifting - at least not in stock form. Then again, the modded Transit you're about to enjoy burning a lot of rubber in the videos after the break is far from stock.

This "Made in Poland" monster van packs the almighty 4.9-liter V8 engine from a BMW M5 E39, tuned to deliver around 440-horses, up from the standard model's 400HP.

Refreshingly enough, this isn't a story about Saab's troubles. Instead, it is a ray of hope as the Swedish carmaker lays out its plans for the future. These include a replacement for the aging 9-3 sedan, which according to Saab's North American president, Tim Colbeck, will debut in the first quarter of 2013. Read more »

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 01:20 PM PDT

Toyota is gearing up for the official reveal of its all-important 2012 Camry with the release of the second teaser photo this month.

While the first image showed us the front end of the car, this latest picture gives us a cropped look at the next generation Camry's rear end with a clear view of the sedan model's tail lamps, which kind of remind the ones found on the Chrysler 200 (as always, feel free to agree or disagree in our comments section below).

Ford Green-Lights Next-Generation of Focus RS

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 01:34 PM PDT

We've yet to see the next Focus ST in final production trim, but Ford's German vehicle line director for C-Segment models, Gunnar Herrmann, recently told Australian news site Drive that the company has given the green light for a high-performance RS version.

Built in limited numbers, the previous Focus RS was a 305HP, front-wheel drive hot hatch that wouldn't look out of place in a WRC rally stage. Despite the fact that all that power was directed only to the front wheels, it handled extremely well partially thanks to Ford's RevoKnuckle suspension

Google Says Self-Driving Prius Crash was Caused by a Human and that it Wasn't the First [with New Video]

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 11:41 AM PDT

Last week, one of Google's Toyota Prius models equipped with the internet search giant's self-driving technology made headlines after it was involved in an accident near the company's Mountain View, California, Headquarters.

While we did report Google's side of the story that said a human was behind the steering wheel at the time of the crash, like many other sites, we also stated that it was the first recorded accident involving a self-driving Google car.

Turns out we were wrong about the crash being the first of its kind as Google spokesperson Jay Narrow contacted Carscoop and told us that last year, one of the firm's cars "was once rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light".

Mazda’s Rotary Engine: Reports of its Demise Greatly Exaggerated?

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 11:02 AM PDT

Much has been said and written about Mazda's rotary engine. The Hiroshima-based company is the last mass manufacturer who insists on using and developing Felix Wankel's internal combustion engine that has done away with pistons for close to five decades.

However, Mazda will discontinue the sole model that is powered by a Wankel engine, the RX-8, at the end of 2011.

According to a report from Ward's, the Japanese firm's executive officer for product planning and powertrain development, Kiyoshi Fujiwara, said that "there is a huge discussion" within the Japanese company about whether to continue its development or not.

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 09:41 AM PDT

Being that not everyone wants a high-riding SUV to justify his or her needs for more space, BMW has been constantly offering a station wagon version of its most famous model series under the Touring nameplate since the E30 from the late 1980s.

We've already shown you plenty of spy shots of the next traditional four-door sedan and the newest arrival in the 3-Series' portfolio, the five-door GT liftback, but now our scoopsters captured the Touring model wrapped in plastic camo.

All-New Hyundai i30 Heading to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

Posted: 10 Aug 2011 06:55 AM PDT

Hyundai plans to unveil a brand-new C-segment model to replace the first-generation of its i30 at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Like the current model, the 2012 i30 is a product of Hyundai's design and engineering center in Russelsheim, Germany and is designed exclusively for the European market.

Hyundai's European design boss Thomas Burkle says the i30's styling represents the next evolution of the firm's form language, 'fluidic sculpture'. What this means is that it shares a lot of common design features with Hyundai's more recent models like the ix20, the ix35, the Veloster and the i40.
