Chaos: Flooded Road in Thailand Causes One Accident after the Other [Video]

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 04:27 PM PST

Ask any experienced driver and he or she will tell you that one of the worst things that can happen to you on the road is aquaplaning or hydroplaning.

This occurs when water in front of your car's tires builds up faster than the tires can pump out through their grooves and most often results in losing traction and control of your vehicle.

We can't say for sure, but this seems to be culprit for a series of accidents that purportedly took place on a flooded highway in Thailand. The slippery road caused more accidents than we could count. You can watch the scary video right after the jump.

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 02:04 PM PST

You'll have to look really hard to see what's conceptual about Buick's latest study that's based on the 2012 LaCrosse sedan and which will go on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16 through 27.

That's because the LaCrosse GL Concept is more of a luxed-up version of the standard model than anything else.

David Lyon, Buick's executive director of design explains: "The design cues that already distinguish the production LaCrosse – such as the premium leather-upholstered seats, ice blue ambient lighting and soft touch surfaces – are amplified in the GL and serve as inspiration for future Buick models."

2013 Cadillac XTS Sedan: First Official Image Published on GM's Site by Mistake

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 01:37 PM PST

An official photo that was published allegedly by mistake on Cadillac's public site earlier today, gives us our first glimpse at the production 2013 XTS luxury sedan, one week ahead of its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The picture was captured before it was removed from the website by a reader of Jalopnik, which then confirmed its authenticity with Cadillac.

The production model is almost identical to last year's XTS Platinum concept study that was displayed at the 2010 Detroit motor show. In fact, from this angle, the only noteworthy styling changes appear to be limited to the headlamp and fog lamp assemblies and the larger and more practical mirror housings.

Luca di Montezemolo Threatens Ferrari will Leave F1 but Company Says it isn't So

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 09:47 AM PST

There is only one team that can lay claim to participating in Formula 1 from its inaugural season in 1950 until today, and that's Ferrari. Yet, the Scuderia, whose founder was "forced" to make road cars to finance its racing activities, is now threatening to leave the sport because it disagrees with its rules.

"Formula 1 is still our life, but without Ferrari there is no Formula 1, just as without Formula 1 Ferrari would be different", said the Italian company's CEO, Luca di Montezemolo commenting on the future of F1 during the Ferrari Mondiali event.

According to Montezemolo, F1 is heading the wrong way: "We race not just for the publicity it brings us, but above all to carry out advanced research aimed at all aspects of our road cars: engine, chassis, mechanical components, electronics, materials and aerodynamics, to such an extent that the technology transfer from track to road has grown exponentially over the past twenty years."
