So we have some good news and some bad news to report on for all of you readers interested in the Toyota FT-86.

We're going to give you the good news first: the Japanese company has just published a new promotional video on its upcoming rear-wheel drive coupe model. The bad news is that it doesn't really show anything that we don't already know about the FT-86…

Aside from some kids playing around with first generation RWD Celica and 2000GT toy cars, the clip includes scenes shot from the development phase of the FT-86 as well as quick glimpses of the production model, which we've already seen through a series of leaked brochure shots.

SCOOP: New BMW i3 REx with Range Extender Petrol Engine Spotted in Production Form

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 05:01 PM PST

A prototype of the upcoming BMW i3 hatchback was spied wearing its production-ready body, while being transferred on a truck in Europe.

Fans of the roundel had the opportunity to see what the Bavarian company's foray into the electric car segment will look like when it hits the market in 2013 with the i3 concept model, which is currently on display at the Los Angeles Motor Show.

Not surprisingly, the prototype seen here suggests that the production version will have a slightly more conventional appearance. The shape of the roof remains as do the suicide-style rear doors but it looks like they will be much smaller in length than on the concept with the front doors featuring a handle, something that leads us to believe BMW may follow a similar solution as the one used on the MINI Clubman.

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 12:32 PM PST

We could be wrong but a car audio installer holding a hammer and wearing a speedo with a tool belt wrapped around his waist, white socks and fancy flip-flops from the days when Richard Nixon was in presidency, doesn't seem like the kind of guy you'd let anywhere near you vehicle (or your house for that matter), let alone try to connect a subwoofer.

Still, if you have your doubts, you can hop over the jump and watch this craftsman in some hammer-time action.

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 09:43 AM PST

The world's most famous car show, BBC's Top Gear, has had more than its fair share of controversies, mainly due to the sardonic comments of host Jeremy Clarkson.

Never mind the "greens", Jeremy's current favorite car is the Mercedes-Benz SLS. He is a petrolhead and apparently, not too fond of electric vehicles. Especially since the Tesla Roadster incident which led to the two parties becoming engaged in a legal battle.

Apart from being a car show, though, Top Gear is also about entertainment. This prompted two fans of the show to record a spoof video demonstrating an "eco race" between two zero emission vehicles: a "Nissan Leaf" and a "Peugeot iOn".

Chevy’s Low Emissions Package Gives 2012 Volt Access to California’s HOV Lanes

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 05:08 AM PST

The state of California has more than 1,400 miles of High Occupancy Vehicle, or HOV, lanes. Initially, only vehicles with two or more occupants could use them, in order to minimize congestion. However, as low-emission vehicles became more common, the Golden State recently changed the regulations, allowing them to use the HOV lanes in order to widen their appeal to buyers.

"HOV lane access is a coveted perk in California," said Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing. Despite being an extended-range hybrid, the Volt didn't qualify for one of the 40,000 HOV stickers that are only available California Enhanced, Advanced Technology – Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles."
