Next Chrysler Minivan to be Sold as a Rebadged Dodge Only in Canada

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 02:05 PM PST

Lately, there has been an abundance of news regarding the Chrysler Group's future plans. About a month ago, the automaker's CEO Sergio Marchionne told reporters that the Chrysler Group would stop selling duplicate offerings to provide each of its brands a stronger and more unique lineup.

As part of the firm's revised plan, Marchionne said at the time that the company would only offer a replacement for the Chrysler Town & Country discarding the Grand Caravan from Dodge's range.

And while that may be true for the U.S. market, the Detroit News is reporting today that the Dodge Grand Caravan will most likely live on in Canada, which would not get the next Town & Country.

Artists Tweet that J.Lo's Promotion of the Fiat 500 During the American Music Awards was "Shameless"

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 01:13 PM PST

Jennifer Lopez has appeared in most of the TV spots regarding the Fiat 500. And that's not all as the 42-year old singer, actress, record producer, dancer, television persona, and fashion designer brought along the Italian city car to the stage during her recent performance at the American Music Awards.

The move, however, came under some heavy criticism. Lopez was attacked on Twitter with messages like "I know I just didn't see that damb Fiat. I KNOW I didn't see that friggin' FIAT" from Roots drummer, Questlove. Singer and award presenter, John Legend, tweeted "that had to be the most shameless thing I've ever seen in a performance. I was genuinely shocked."

Google's Cookie Monster Ate our Poll

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 12:54 PM PST

Some of you may have noticed that our poll on the three compact SUVs that Ford, Mazda and Honda introduced at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show last week is a little on the cuckoo side today in regards of the number of people that voted.

If our memory serves us right, there were about 2,800 votes last night with the Mazda CX-5 leading the pack, but dropped to around 1,690 in the morning and have being going up and down ever since.

Obviously, there's a bug somewhere, but being that the gadget used for the poll is an official Google widget, there's really nothing we can do about it from our side, so we've decided to remove it.

We hope you accept our apologies for the glitch and promise to head over to one of Google's official forums to write a heated message to someone who may or may not escalate the problem to a Google employee and cross our fingers that he or she will read it in six business days and find the time to respond in a timely manner - if you've ever dealt with Google, you probably know what we mean…

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 11:32 AM PST

After receiving court protection from its creditors, Swedish Automobile N.V. agreed to sell 100% of Saab to Chinese partners Pang Da and Zeijiang Youngman Lotus Automobile, it had to get approval from its shareholders. General Motors, though, almost immediately raised concerns over the deal

Chuck Norris Approved: Motorcyclist Hops Back on Seat, Saves his Life

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 10:13 AM PST

Of all the "Chuck Norris Approved" videos that we've shown you over time, this one definitely takes the cake. The accident, which involves a small hatchback crashing into a motorcycle, took place on a busy highway in Bangalore, India on November 21.

Upon a first look at the security camera footage, it seems that the rider was simply incredibly lucky for making it out alive when the driver of a white hatchback steered to the right of the road hitting his motorcycle.

However, once you slow down the clip (or hit pause and play constantly), you will see that the alert motorcyclist moves towards the back of the bike just before the crash escaping the worse. The careless driver of the car did not stop to see the outcome of the accident he caused. Watch the entire clip after the break.

The French Tuning Connection: Delavilla's Widebody Porsche Cayman R1

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 08:34 AM PST

It's not often that we get to see French tuning houses take on German sports cars, so when we stumbled upon the Delavilla-prepped Porsche Cayman R1 it immediately captured our attention.

One of the lesser-known tuners from France, Delavilla was established in 2007 and focuses exclusively on Porsche models currently offering complete programs for the Cayman and the 911 coupes. The company says that it is also working on tunes for the Speedster, the Cayenne SUV and the Panamera saloon, with more details to be released at a later date.

Back to the Cayman-based R1, the coupe model was revealed at the 2011 Lyon International Motor Show last month and it proposes a comprehensive exterior makeover along with a choice of power upgrades.

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 07:49 AM PST

It's no exaggeration to say that there are more Pontiac Fieros posing as something else than there are original models, which goes to show you how much respect buyers have for GM's ill-fated sports car.

Over the years, we've brought you all sorts of Fiero-based replicas from a pretty amazing Lamborghini Miura clone to a Porsche Carrera GT and a funny-looking Ferrari F40, but this latest find on eBay, called the Meadowsa XP8, is trying to be something of its own.

VW Passat Goes Off-Road with Alltrack Version, will Debut at the Tokyo Motor Show

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 05:36 AM PST

The VW Group, and more specifically Audi, was the one that started the high-riding estate craze with its A6 Allroad in 1999. Based on the regular A6 Avant, the Allroad featured an all-wheel drive quattro system, higher ground clearance, an adjustable-height air suspension, all-terrain tires and flared fenders, gaining a more adventurous appearance.

Now, Volkswagen has released the first-ever crossroad version of its Passat mid-size model, named the Passat Alltrack. It will receive its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show on December 3 and will go on sale in early 2012.

A successful recipe is not meddled with so the (European) Passat Estate-based Alltrack has all the goods one expects in the segment: raised suspension height, stainless steel-look front and rear underbody protection panels and plastic covered wheel arches that house 18-inch alloys.
