SCOOP: New Mazda6 Test Mule Spotted Testing with…Toyota Badges Posted: 10 Nov 2011 05:56 PM PST We'll get our first taste of what Mazda has in store for us in the mid-size family car segment at this month's 42nd edition of the Tokyo Motor Show with the Takeri concept, which previews the next generation of the Mazda6. However, the Japanese brand's engineers have already began work on the sedan model as you can see from these fresh spy shots that were taken in Germany. A keen eye will immediately recognize that the lines of the prototype belong the current Mazda6. That's because what you see here is an early test mule that combines the next model's platform architecture with the body panels of the current Mazda6. Read more » |
New Photos and Videos of Chevrolet Trailblazer Show Model Posted: 10 Nov 2011 04:36 PM PST The wraps came off the spanking-new Chevrolet Trailblazer study today at the opening of the 2011 Dubai International Auto Show. We shared the first pictures of GM's near-production midsize sport utility vehicle on Wednesday night, but we now have more details as well as a bunch of new photos and videos including one from the presentation in Dubai. The study previews the production model that will be sold around the globe, beginning with Thailand in early 2012. GM has not said if it will be offered in North America, but being that it is based on the Chevy's new Colorado, which will be built and sold in the States, we can't see why not. Read more » |

Video: Is this Driver Extremely Lucky or Super Alert ? Posted: 10 Nov 2011 03:17 PM PST It's a whole different world out there when you're driving on the highway even if you're following the speed limits as it only takes a split second for something bad to happen. In the video you're about to watch, the driver with the dash mounted camera not only completely dodge a sedan model that lost control and slid right in front of him/her, but also manages to quickly turn the wheel and avoid the worst from a speeding SUV that was heading straight towards the car. The crossover model only touched the vehicle. Watch the incident unfold in the video after the break. Read more » |
Power Beast: New Brabus 800 Mercedes-Benz Coupe Lands at Dubai Motor Show Posted: 10 Nov 2011 02:33 PM PST The latest Mercedes-Benz CL 600 is a fine grand tourer, but how do you make it better? In fact, how do you transform it into what Brabus calls, "the world's fastest and most powerful luxury coupe"? For starters, you take the standard twin-turbo 5.5-liter V12 and tune it with a Brabus-developed crankshaft with longer stroke, increased cylinder bore and larger pistons. Now that you have a V12 with a 6.3-liter displacement, you can add four new camshafts and fine-machine the two cylinder heads of the V12 in order to optimize the mixture flow. Read more » |
Bugatti Presents a Trio of Special Edition Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Supercars at Dubai Show Posted: 10 Nov 2011 01:58 PM PST While the coupe version of Bugatti's Veyron series has been sold out, the VW Group-owned supercar maker still has the open-top Grand Sport model up for sale. In fact, Bugatti says that from the 150 units planned for production, it has delivered 45 Grand Sports to date, which leaves us with 105 more cars if you do the math. For those that prefer to have Bugatti's design and engineering teams tick all the options and choose what colors and materials should be used for the mighty supercar, the Molsheim-based manufacturer brought three bespoke examples of the Grand Sport to this week's Dubai International Motor Show. GM Explains the Camaro ZL1's Special Aero Package [Video] Posted: 10 Nov 2011 01:22 PM PST Ah, the Nurburgring; the Nordschleife; the Green Hell. Whatever you call it, it is today the de facto measure of any new sports car's abilities, to the point where it has sparked some not so polite exchange of words between rival manufacturers. The 580HP Camaro ZL1, which goes on sale in spring 2012, has of course tackled the famous track. Chevrolet didn't expect it to outperform the top contenders, exotic supercars costing many times more than the Camaro. Nevertheless, it recorded a 7:41.27 lap time, reaching a top speed of 273 km/h (170 mph). Read more » |
Hyundai Publishes New Official Photos of 2013 Genesis Coupe Posted: 10 Nov 2011 12:49 PM PST We're guessing that it won't be long before we get the full picture [pun intended] on the refreshed 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe as the South Korean automaker just published a fresh batch of photos of the car, this time on its Facebook page. The three new pictures come only a couple of days after Hyundai shared two cropped images of the rear-wheel drive coupe through its Korean blog. Read more » |
Video: Hotted up 1967 Volvo Amazon Kombi Plays Around with Ferrari 458 Italia Posted: 10 Nov 2011 12:21 PM PST While a 1967 Volvo Amazon Kombi may seem like one of the last cars you'd consider putting up against a Ferrari 458 Italia, it doesn't take long to see that this Swede is not your run-of-the-mill station wagon. The team over at GTBOARD, which uploaded the video on Youtube, didn't provide any supplementary information on the Amazon, but looking through our archives we discovered that this particular modified Volvo is most likely the same car that was displayed at the 2006 SEMA Show, albeit updated with several tuning goods. The one at the Las Vegas show sported a 600 horsepower six-cylinder engine. Scroll down to watch it in action. Read more » |
Honda Shows Off Micro Commuter Concept in Advance of the Tokyo Motor Show Posted: 10 Nov 2011 11:14 AM PST If we didn't know better [...], we'd say Honda lifted a few pages straight out of BMW's "i" Series handbook when it came to detailing its 2011 Tokyo Motor Show-bound Micro Commuter Concept car. Take a close look and you may discover some similarities in certain key design elements (note: not the shape of the car but the details) between the Honda concept car and BMW's i3 and i8 studies such as the multi-layered surfaces and the light-blue accent hues. Then again, that's just us. You can look at the pictures after the break and decide for yourself if we're right or not. Read more » |

Unlike Honda's Small EV Sports Car, which we only get to see through a handful of sketches for the time being, the Japanese automaker released plenty of real-life photos of the AC-X. But once again, Honda has released very few details about the concept. Here's what the press blurb says: "A next generation plug-in hybrid vehicle offering a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience in urban and long-distance motoring. With the choices of an "engine drive mode" for more spirited driving or an "automatic drive mode" for more relaxed driving." Read more » |

Since there's no point in hiding anymore, GM today released a full-blown version of the same image in high-resolution providing us with a more detailed look at Cadillac's new flagship model that replaces both the DTS and the STS in the carmaker's lineup.
