The Story of a Man who Bought the Rights to the Auto Avio Construzioni Name Only to be Sued by Ferrari

Posted: 05 Oct 2011 06:10 PM PDT

As we've already mentioned in our tribute to Enzo Ferrari, the founder of one of the most iconic brands in the world initially worked for Alfa Romeo. As the story has it, in 1939 he left the Milanese carmaker, but part of the agreement was that he could not manufacture any vehicles under his name for four years – so he used the Auto Avio Construzioni brand instead.

The years passed by and following the end of WWII, Enzo Ferrari finally founded his own brand and produced its first car, the 125. The rest, as they say, is history – or so we thought until Laurent Miller sent Carscoop an email describing his story that has to do with the Auto Avio Construzioni brand name and his legal quarrel with Ferrari.

Muller's involvement began in 2004 when he claims to have bought the right to the Auto Avio Construzioni trademark with plans to build a bespoke Ferrari F430 fitted with a V12 engine instead of the regular model's V8 powerplant.

We're still a few months ahead of the market launch of the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, but General Motors has already began leaking information about the muscle car's appearance on the famed Nürburgring racetrack.

Today, GM spokesperson Jason Laird posted a tweet saying, "Mark Reuss just confirmed ZL1 Camaro lapped Nurburgring in 7.41.27". Posted: 05 Oct 2011 09:48 AM PDT

The Juke has seen its fair share of publicity, mostly due to its unusual shape and the fact that it is Nissan's first entry in the small crossover segment. The most recent stunt is the announcement on the development of the Juke-R with modified GT-R underpinnings.

Now Nissan has moved on to another fantasy realm: not the "what if" 530HP Juke prototype, but the virtual one. Its European division has launched Stage JUK3D, an online module that promises to give its users "an incredibly immersive experience of discovering and driving" the carmaker's small crossover.

Dude, I Drive a BMW: Sarcastic Video Take on Bimmer Owners

Posted: 05 Oct 2011 09:07 AM PDT

There are [insert brand here] drivers, and then there are [insert the same brand here] drivers. Naturally, we've all heard the stereotypes and jokes about people that own cars sporting the famous badge that looks like a propeller blade set against a blue sky – but which as it turns out, was actually created to represent the colors of the Free State of Bavaria.

A group of young people decided to visualize some of those stereotypes and create a video parody about BMW owners. Some of the sketches work better than others, but overall, we gather that the clip is worth two-and-a-half minutes of your time.

Watch the video after the break and tell us if you think in the comments section.

Novitec Powers up Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale with a Supercharger

Posted: 05 Oct 2011 08:46 AM PDT

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale was introduced at last year's Paris Motor Show as a lighter and more hardcore alternative to the standard model. However, the Italian firm left the Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 largely intact as it gained a mere 10HP over the S model producing 450-horses and 510 Nm (376 lb ft) of torque.

Famed German tuning house Novitec and its Tridente division, which specializes on Maserati models, decided to step in and offer owners of the GT MC Stradale an upgrade package that focuses on the performance aspect.

While not the first-ever crash involving the McLaren MP4-12C, this incident piqued our interest as it looks like the car in question may have been a brand-new example getting ready for delivery given the blue tape and white plastic covers on the seats, as well as the fact that the accident took place near the brand's headquarters in Woking, UK.

The picture was posted on the UK ClioSport forums by a member that claims the McLaren MP4-12C crashed into one of his friend's car before coming to a halt in front of a fence on the side of the road.
