Audi Presents Facelifted Versions of 2013MY A4, A4 Allroad and S4 Models

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 05:49 PM PDT

Have you ever heard about Audi's 360o design philosophy? Well, allow us to explain with an example. In its more recent incarnation, it goes something like this: the latest A4 [B8] provided the styling guidelines for the creation of the new 2011MY A8 which itself inspired the design of the new 2012MY A6, which has now become the inspiration for the updated A4…

So that probably gives you an idea about the styling changes for the 2013MY Audi A4 in both sedan and Avant forms as well as its S4 and A4 Allroad Quattro siblings.

In a similar fashion to the recently updated A5/S5 models, the refreshed A4s gain Audi's new six-point grille and sharper looking headlamps with LED daytime running lights that form a narrow band, redesigned front and rear bumpers, plus tweaked tail lights that reflect the shape of the head lights and come with LED strips.

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 04:29 PM PDT

Now that didn't take long, did it? No sooner than BMW revealed the sixth-generation of its 3-Series saloon and the first camouflaged prototypes of the coupe model have hit the streets of Germany to begin their final stages of testing.

For those of you confused with our title, unconfirmed reports citing insider sources claim that BMW is contemplating the use of odd numbers for its family models such as sedans and station wagons and even numbers for its sportier vehicles like the X6 and the two door version of the 3-Series, which may be named 4-Series.

BMW had toyed around with the idea in the past but it never came to fruition. We still don't know for sure if the next 3-Series Coupe will be renamed or not.

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 03:50 PM PDT

Consumer Reports has published its 2011 annual auto survey in which the main point of interest, as the report states, is a sharp decline in Ford's so far "solid reliability record": the Detroit carmaker dropped 10 places in the overall reliability ranks.

According to CR's survey, which is based on responses from 1.3 million vehicles owners, Ford's drop from 10th to 20th place among 28 carmakers can be attributed to two main factors. The first is that all three of Ford's new models, i.e. the Explorer, Fiesta and Focus, scored below average in reliability in their first year on the market.

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 03:25 PM PDT

If there is one company that is widely renowned for its perfectly smooth straight-six engines, that would most certainly be BMW. The truth is though the Bavarian firm's arch-rival Mercedes-Benz also has a long history of using the exact same type of engine before it switched to a more space-efficient V6 layout.

Now, Britain's CAR magazine is reporting that Mercedes has signed-off a completely new family of engines for 2015, which aside from smaller V8s and a fresh batch of four-cylinder power plants, surprisingly enough, also includes a new generation of straight six units.
