What a Feeling: Carscoop Reader Takes Lexus LFA for a Spin around Silverstone

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 07:06 PM PDT

Say what you want about the Lexus LFA and whether or not it is worth the hefty $375k sticker price; if you're a true-blue petrol head and you were given the opportunity to get behind the LFA's wheel for a lap around a professional circuit, you'd do it in a heartbeat no matter what you thought about the car.

And that opportunity came for Carscoop reader Jean-Luc Cartwright from Britain who was able to drive the V10-powered Lexus LFA at the Silverstone racetrack in England.

SPY SHOTS: New Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Caught Thinly Disguised

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 06:08 PM PDT

When Mercedes-Benz presented the first generation of the CLS in 2004, nobody expected that it would virtually reestablished the so-called four-door coupe segment and go on to sell some 170,000 examples throughout the world.

Now, the Stuttgart-based automaker is getting ready to bring the shooting brake category into the limelight with a new variant of the second generation of the CLS.

The company not only acknowledged the production of the Shooting Brake model a few months after the presentation of a concept study at the Auto China motorshow in 2010, but even announced that sales will start in 2012.

Read Why Steve Jobs' Car Never Had a License Plate

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 04:44 PM PDT

Steve Jobs, the charismatic founder of Apple and Pixar, was a man who changed not only the way computers are made and marketed, but also popularized a number of novel products, such as the iPhone and the iPad, which made buyers form long lines outside Apple stores and the competition always play catch-up.

Sadly, Jobs passed away on October 5 at the age of 56. After his death, one of the rumors circulating the web was that of his car's number plate – or rather its absence.

Some said that he didn't care about paying the fines, as he surely could afford to, while others claimed that he had somehow obtained a special permit to drive without one.

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 04:00 PM PDT

Called the Scion xB Numeric, the concept is the result of the collaborative work of the following companies: 686, which is a premium snowboarding outerwear brand, Scion Racing –you already know what it does- and Spin Imaging, which specializes in vehicle wraps and graphics.

Scion Previews a Trio of iQ Tuned Concept Cars Ahead of SEMA Show

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 01:07 PM PDT

It won't come as much of a surprise to learn that Toyota's Scion brand is planning to bring several souped-up and conceptual versions of its new iQ mini to the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas next week.

After being originally revealed around the world with Toyota's badges and later on, with Aston Martin's name on its hood, the iQ reached U.S. shores as a Scion earlier this month, so it's only reasonable that the Japanese carmaker wants to create some buzz around the car.

There's more to come, but for the time being we have pictures and details on three customized iQs: the iQ-MR by Tatsu, the iQ-RX by Jon Sibal (yes, that Jon Sibal) and the iQ-RS by Michael Chang. You can check them all out right after the jump.

The strong yen is eating away profit margins and hurting Japanese carmakers' sales and as a result, is forcing them to find ways to cut their losses.

A Look at Some of the More Odd Creations of BMW's Individual Division

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 11:57 AM PDT

For the past few decades, BMW's Individual customization division has been catering to the needs of the Bavarian firm's more affluent clientele that are willing to dig a little bit deeper into their pockets to personalize their vehicles.

The firm's Individual workshop promises to fulfill almost any wishes as long as they comply with safety requirements and legal stipulations.

And while one client's request to base all colors used on an M6 Coupe around a Hawaiian Koawood trim worked out nicely (see video here), we can't say the same for the lamb wool floor mats found on a 2008 7-Series or the custom fabric interior trim on the 1992 7-Series.

Ferrari Caters to the Needs of Those that Want to Stand Out from the Crowd

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 10:19 AM PDT

Believe it or not, some of the few individuals among us that are fortunate enough to own a Ferrari may find their car a little...ordinary. Do not fret: most of these people pay for exclusivity, and having the exact same car as someone else just doesn't make the cut for them - not even when it comes to a Ferrari.

That's why the Italian supercar maker introduced a "tailor-made" customization program at last month's Frankfurt Motor Show. From now on, customers can order almost anything they want from three lines named Classica, Scuderia amd Inedita.

Police Pursuit Drunk, Topless Gal in a G-String going 128MPH in Ohio [Video]

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 09:09 AM PDT

Ohio police officers were engaged in a high-speed chase earlier this month when 28-year-old Erin B. Holdsworth failed to stop after cops clocked her going 110mph (177km/h) along Route 422 in Bainbridge on October 11.

The young woman reached speeds of up to 128mph (206km/h) before police officers made use of stingers to puncture two of Holdsworth's tires and bring the chase to a stop.

And here's where the story takes a strange twist. Upon stopping her car on the side of the road, the young woman came out obviously drunk wearing nothing more than a…pair of sneakers and a G-string! The scene was captured by a dash-mounted police camera.
